Default Convertible motor - FAIL!

Just curious to know if anyone else ever had their convertible motors fail. The part number that failed (according to the body shop) is 19120603, the pump assembly.

Cheapest price I am finding was Gene, $1223.44!!!! MSRP is $1344.44!!

The decent news is, that this is only the second "repair" to the car, mods not included. The first was the harmonic balancer at 40K miles.

The part will be in early next week.

Thanks Jeff, but I am a little skiddish about buying this part on Ebay!!! The body shop will warranty it if I go with either GM or Gene!!

Dave,
I'll let you know when I get there. 39000 miles and going a 1/4 mile at a time. No problems, knock on whatever so far.

Not really, If I would estimate, the top has been up and down less than 100 times since I bought the car 3 1/2 years ago!! Sometimes I leave the top down without putting it back up (garage kept).

Did you make sure the pressure relief valve is tightened all the way down?

Any DIC messages?

There are several fuses associated with the power top's operation.

That's great to know and not something I would have thought of myself. Also noticed that those two sellers have 100% and 99.6% positive feedback...pretty good chance of being happy with it.

Bummer about the motor. I have an 08 and zero problems. I have had my top up and down SO many times! Not from just the normal driving around and all that I do, but from all the tests and stuff from when I test out my luggage rack. Just this week, maybe 8 times in my garage just making sure the top goes down and up with no problems on racks that I was shipping out. So for 3 yrs doing this.. Have to think you got a lemon motor...

Mine went out at 36k ish then when they put the new one in it clipped a hydraulic line and had to get that repaired as well. Was covered under warranty fortunately.

I've dealt with Cleveland Pick a Part before (The 2nd and 3rd vendor for those items that I listed). They are great guys and very honest.

Over the past year I think two posted about motor failure. It turned out to be this..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Did you make sure the pressure relief valve is tightened all the way down" It just took a 'snug' and they went back to working.
