Default Go No GO Clutch... What do you do?

Just got my 2013 427 and it has that terrible go/no go clutch
pedal. My 2012 GS had the same thing. Any body have any
suggestions on a fix. I know you can install the ZR1 clutch, but thats a lot of work and money. Thanks for any good ideas out there.

Drive it to wear the clutch in? Maybe some other members can chime in with their results but when I hear complaints of a touchy clutch, they are usually brand new and the friction material is still a little too grabby.

It takes many miles to properly break in a clutch. I have always found traffic can be your friend, after the motor break in, just to break in the clutch quicker. It does take a while, don't jump the gun. If your doing alot of highway miles in can take a long time to break in.

Maybe it's just my experience but I'd never heard of breaking in a street clutch until I got my '08 (non-Z06/non-427). I really do think it took awhile before it finally got settled in. Or maybe I just got settled in...to the clutch! In any event, I do agree with using it and the best place is in traffic to give it a lot of workout. Good luck with it.

I feel your pain, mine was the same way, but after about 1,000 miles it was just fine. Either I got used to it or it got used to me.

Are we talking about the clutch causing car to shudder when engaging or something else. I've had 4 clutches replaced on Corvettes with less the 500 miles because of clutch shudder. One c6 z06 and one c5 98 and two c6s funny how the service writter wants the tech to drive it . David the Tech comes out I back car up so he can get in and he just turns around an goes to the parts dept to get the parts.

You've got a 2012 and a 2013 with the same problem? Take them back to the dealer and have them fix both cars. Drive a couple of new cars off the lot and see if maybe you are expecting something different from what GM has to offer.

Both mine and a good friend's 427 have what I would call senitive clutches. First thing I noticed was how low they engage. I questioned this at the dealer and was told they are all like that. I also had a little shudder and still do on occassion after 1700 miles. I have found that I just need to slip the clutch a little more than what you would expect but now quite used to it, so I consider it the nature of the beast.

Are you sure it is the clutch and not the Traction Control? My 13 GS seems to have an issue and I find by turning off the TCS the issue is gone. The car will pull off like the old clutches and not seem to hold you back.

It's not normal find a good dealer tech he will replace clutch for you.
See my post where I mention shudder in clutch I've owned 29 corvettes it ain't normal.

The clutch shudder has been explained as a warped flywheel/pressure plate. It's been said that it frequently is caused by the the guy loading the car carrier and slipping the clutch so bad that it overheats and warps. My '07 did it since new and actually got a little better with time but it never went away. My Z06 has none of that shudder.

Like many have reported here, when my `08 was new it had what has been described as a "quick clutch". I didn't like it and even stalled the engine a couple times, I hate that. But like the others, it broke-in, and it works very well now. Clutch chatter is a whole `nother matter.

I cussed mine for 5 years, when a friend told me to turn off the Traction Control! It's now as smooth as my first 65 Vette!
