what happens to the c6 value when the c7 hits the market?
Does anyone know the expected value decrease of the c6 once the c7 hits the market?I'm wondering how soon I should put my c6 up for sale to upgrade to the c7....

The sooner the better and the C7 has little to do with it.It's already available for order/or deposit with some forum dealers so that ship has sailed. You should be more concerned about each month that goes by and your car gets older.NADA books come out every month.Every car on the planet depreciates a little month after month. Put it up for sale now and see what happens..

If you are already set on a c7 I would sell the c6 now, put down a deposit and focus on getting the new car of your dreams. Who knows, heaven forbid, something could happen today or tomorrow to the c6. Besides, for most of us it is a toy anyway right?

I don't expect anything other than a normal year of depreciation. The initial prices of the C7 will be inflated though...just as they were when the C6 came out, although not to as great an extent because of the state of the economy now versus what it was during the bubble in '05.

Well said everyone. I think maybe I should wait until the c7 has been out for a year and see how the new engine works out. I'm kind of leary of the new engine in its first year but once its been out a short time I think it will be the thing to have no doubt.

As far as I'm concerned, the prices of C6s should go UP when the C7 comes out .
But since you're already set on a C7, the smartest thing to do is wait a year until prices on the C7 deflate, and nasty bugs (if any) are resolved. You're going to lose more by selling the C6 now and buying an inflated C7 when they come out. You're going to lose your a$$ anyway, but waiting a little is the smarter move IMO. Good luck.

Who cares? If you are enjoying your C6, which I am Why worry about a small depreciation.I guarenttee the guy who takes a $5K to $10K depreciation when he drives the c7 off the show room floor won't be loving that fact. I would not buy the first year model anyway.

I would think that if the C7 goes for MSRP or anything close to it, that im and of itself should keep C6 prices very firm. A successful C7 corvette selling for good prices will allow previous corvettes to follow the lead.

GM has already done a great job of depreciating the C6 by building too many! They only care about the wholesale side (sell as many as possible to dealers), and they wonder why the Vette is deemed a dime a dozen car! As for the C7 release it won't change normal MY over MY depreciation IMO.

Well I'm most excited about the engine. I've been waiting for a directed injected engine for a while. I think it will be an awesome unit once the aftermarket hits. I wish I made enough to keep my c6 and buy a c7... Maybe I should start buying lotto tickets.
