Default What year is it?

This guy who goes to our local pub was telling everybody he bought a new C6 roadster <vert> with 3,600 miles.
I started asking him some questions, THEN he told me it was a '09.

A few weeks later he brought it to the pub, and he has 2 oval looking
fobs with separate keys.

I looked at the exterior and interior, but would love to see the engine.
I didn't want to ask him to go out and open the hood and I don't think he would.
How can I tell what year it is by the exterior and interior, it's parked there most days.
I don't want to confront him, or embarrass him, just want to know if he's bullcraping us.

Tenth digit of the vin#: 5 is 2005, 6 is 2006, 7 is 2007, 8 is 2008, 9 is2009, A is 2010, B is 2011.

10th digit in the VIN represents the year. If it's a "5", the vehicle is a 2005 and so on until 2010 when letters were used. "A" being 2010, "B" being 2011 etc...

My 06 has the rounder fob and separate key. My buddies with 07's and newer have the square fob with embedded key.

Sooo, I would lay odds 10:1 it's an 05 or 06.

I have an 07 with the round fob not the square with embedded key so that isn't a good sign of the year. Best to check the vin

The new style key fobs with integrated key came out in 08. I think you can program the new fob to work on an 07 but the key is different. You had to change the locks I believe. ..

Nope, just have to re-cut the key and they did change the FOBs in 08. I have an 07 but I did change the FOB.

The fobs are not a reliable indicator as any C6 fob can be used with any year C6. (yes, even the Grand Sport).

Another possibility is the console trim piece. 08 and above has a carbon fiber look, earlier C6's were Gray I believe.

My 07 has the CF look console but could be put in aftermarket.

OP keep us up to date on what you find out. The only real way to know is the VIN. Wheels, Fobs, Console can all be swapped out easily.

Who cares? Why is this important?

You asked and he says its an 09. Why the need to dig deeper? Does it matter?
