Do you fully use the capabilities of your C6?????????????????????

"Unfortunately, verts cannot run the full 1/4 mile w/o a roll bar"
What if I promise to duck and lean way over if I get upside down?
I agree it should run in the low 12s and maybe the high 11s if I get a good launch but 1/8 mile runs don't interest me. I still want my 320' back in NHRA for the fuel cars....

I use 100% of the acceleration potential at least a couple of times every time I drive the car, but the most important thing to me is that a higher potential of the car makes driving it at 60% that much more enjoyable. It's fun to be able to walk away from someone on a curvy canyon road without even breathing hard.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I will be the first to admit it. I don't race or track my car, so I probably only use 60% of the performance capabilities my car has less than 10% of the time. Everyone is touting the performance number of the new C7 but at what point is all that complex and expensive technology just a waste of money for those of us that just street drive these cars? I understand some of you race your car and that's totally different. I do like the C7 and hope to have one someday, but for me its not about being a better performing car, our C6's already have more performance than I ever use. JMHO
Just because we don't use it to it's capabilities does not mean we don't want more!!

Randy, I, too, rarely take mine to the limit of it's capabilities. And having a vert makes even a weekend track event a non-issue since most tracks don't allow verts.
HOWEVER - you should seriously consider a high performance driving school. Just to see what it CAN do. Last year I went to the Ron Fellows Spring Mountain 3 day school - it was the time of my life.
I can fill you in on more at the Bash!

My C6 has a few mods and puts down 550rwhp. I know, there are cars with much higher numbers, but really, my car is scary fast. Too fast for the streets. I'm talking well into triple digits in a city block. People get hurt like that, so I can never let the car rip on city streets. Most of my 'experiments in speed and distance' with other cars is on the Interstate, and then only when there is little or no traffic.
And the way my city is growing, there are few times when the Interstate isn't wall to wall traffic. There is a new section of Interstate south of the city that goes nowhere, and this is where most guys gather for experiments.

After I purchased my new 2006 coupe, didn't take me long to realize I needed to attend a performance driving school, did that. My normal operation isn't anywhere close to the performance capability of the Corvette. It is impossible to sustain that kind of performance off track. Normally content with .6/.75 g turns, occasionally spin the tires with a rapid acceleration. The highest speed attained is around 130 mph. See 90/100 mph quite a bit, police get very unhappy above 100 mph. I can't imagine 7,000 rpm shifts, heck the speed increases rapidly shifting around 4,000 rpm.

You're in for a back stage pass to the police station at that speed in MN.

If you don't seriously track, you're not close. I don't want to speculate how far down on the potential scale, but low!
Tracked with a friend of mine in his dedicated standard C5 Z06 (comparable HP) except for exhaust, race tires and brakes. After three rounds he had to unload me so I don't puke in his car! He's a part time race instructor too so not afraid to put his right foot down.
No offence, but if you have not been around the track with a serious racer, you have no idea of the potential of these cars!

I agree. I do my best to use the full capability when I have the opportunity to go to the track. I do plan to take some HPDE to help me get there. I don't go to the drag strip. I feel like the Corvette is more of a road course car (NOT trying to start a debate), or at least that's what I enjoy doing. Around town I will "flex" a little in a benign, non-traffic environment, but that's about it I just try to find track days in my area where I can go out and TRULY use my Corvette the way it was intended. My $.02

That's kinda where I'm at. Mine is paid for, I like looking at, and I don't use the capabilities it has. Yet, I still feel the "want" to have a C7
I guess the older I get I have a hard time spending so much money on something that depreciates so fast, with capabilities I will never use.
