Default Dam window cowl

Replaced it less that 4,000 miles ago and on a long drive of 360 miles in relatively cold weather 26-35 degree the windshield cowl buzz started.

Must be more prevalent in cooler weather cause this was the first time I heard it with the new replacement.

Drats so frustrating indeed.

I had a book on CD on and it was easily heard above the Audio and I have poor hearing. It was very loud.

Got the wrong thread title I know. Changed it but not on main page.

I had mine replaced about 500 miles ago and that dreaded flapping hum sound is back.

Ya then they replace it with the same inferior design part and the cycle continues....

I'm surprised GM has not offered a updated piece, because this design does not work and if it does it will not last very long. Two new cowls and both went faulty withing 4,000 miles.

Garage kept car and not a daily driver.

Really cheapens the car experience when you start hearing the LOUD buzzing.

I'm convinced if they would have used a thicker mill of plastic, problem was over. Since they didn't you have to use a double-sided 3m type tape to solve it. Be careful pulling the shroud from the windshield cause it will tear. Ask me how I know. Did it 8 months ago & had no issue since

Keep car in garage and you won't have this problem.

It seems if there was no seam it would lay flush against the windshield.

Mine is eight years old and never had the problem. Is it a design issue or installation problem?

GM's answer is an installation issue. However, their repair directions are to compensate for a design issue. The thin part of the cowl does not lay flush against the windshield which then causes the noise.

Three cents worth of black electrical tape can take care of the problem and eliminate the reason to complain.

Just what I want a strip of black tape along the edge of my front windshield to fix a very poor GM design that they have not stepped up to the plate to fix.

Like I said it just makes the car feel cheap.
