C6 Still Looks Good
#21
The numbers I have seen are saying C6Z curb weight (3180lb) or less for the base stingray (the C6 GS is 3300lb) with a power pump of at least 20hp and similar torque bump... but this is an assumption. Until the power numbers are released, we can't really guess what the car will do in the quarter or to 60. This aside, based on a ~3100lb car and ~450 hp, PLUS launch control, all the other tech goodies, way stiffer frame and suspension improvements, I think we can safely assume the new Stingray will easily best the LS3 cars in performance. If I had to write down a number, I'd say low to flat 12 in the quarter and 3.9-4.0 to 60. Maybe it won't live up to that... but somebody would need to show me something that would convince me otherwise at this point. How great of a day and age do we live in that there are reasonably priced cars on the market that provide performance that was the stuff of legend 10 years ago

I guess I am just not that vain. I drove my C5 for a long time before moving up and I never felt that I had an inferior car. Oh sure the C6 had more features and more HP, but the C5 was a nice looking car and I feel the same about the C6.
I understand your point and it cans down to each individual.

Interesting vignette that just took place about 10 mins ago on the way home from the office. I roll up to a light in the right lane and as I slow up I move over to the left lane as a mercedes SUV in front of me does the same. I sort of cut him off unintentionally and motioned for him to move in front of me if he needed to get over. He rolls his window down. I'm thinking I'm fixing to get bitched out. Instead he asks me what year my car is. "Twelve", I reply. Of course, he asks if I've seen the new one. I respond affirm, but only in pix. He says,"What the hell did they do to it. Why did they go changing it??" Motioning to my car he says, "That looks great". FWIW I thought it was a tad bit interesting. The styling controversy may very well extend beyond the overwound corvette nutcase community. I remember each generation change clearly from c-4 to the present and I can never remember such a reaction from a "civilian" about a new model.

When I got my C6 in November I had a pretty good clue what the C7 would look like and knew for sure what the mechanicals were.
I bought the C6 anyway. Now that I have seen the C7 it is a nice car. Some things I like some I dont. But overall it is nice. Without sitting in one or driving one though I cant pass judgement.
BUT.....I paid 39 k for my new Vette. A new C7 1LT will probably come in around 56k with freight. And while the C7 is nice it aint 17k nice.

Same here. I think the C5 & C6 are destined to become classics, right up there with the C2. I'm going to enjoy our C6 for some years to come. Hope you do too!

I think the C6 body style still looks current compared to most other sports cars out there today. The C7 will phase my model out but not as drastic as the C6 did to the C5 when it was released. When I had my 2000 FRC I wanted a C6 immediately, the design was a complete home run.

C5 TO C6=
C6 TO C7 =
The C7 looks more like the C6 then the c6 looks like the c5 which will keep the c6 looking good for years to come. Ain't no C7 that looks as good as a wide body C6!!!

Funny you mention this.
My wife and I watched the reveal Sunday night.
Didn't like it at first.
By Monday morning, after seeing more pics, it quickly grew on me.
I changed my wallpaper to a C7 shot, and decided, "yes, this is going to be my next car!"
But this morning, Thursday, looking out over the smooth flowing curves of my '06's hood and fenders on my way to work, it just felt right.
So I'm seriously thinking about picking up a 2013 GS.
This is looking really good to me right now.
I like curves!
