So on the Corvette forum, full of Corvette fans, less than 1/2 of the voters in the C7 poll said "they loved it". Less than half! If it was even somewhat good looking it would have got 75%.

What a disaster...

And how was the C6 perceived when it first came out? How was the C5 perceived when it first came out? Etc.

Corvette goes through this EVERY SINGLE GENERATION.

There are already two guys in my car club looking at replacing their C6z's with C7z's when they come out. I'm also looking at getting a mid-year to park next to my 800hp FRC.

GM NEEDS to bring out new blood too. The average C6 owner is my Father's age, while people my age are shifting towards more modern styled cars. The C7 will bring some of them back to American...

Yes, I was disappointed as well. Although I have to confess that the damned thing (C7) is starting to grow on me already. Need to see it in the flesh I guess. But I still don't believe it is anywhere near the improvement of the C6 over the C5. And I like the C5 which says a lot about the C6! I don't know but I just feel the C7 has made the C6 an instant classic in the same way the C3 made the C2 a classic.

But I do have reservations besides styling. With regards to the manual transmission, how does the LT-1 do when you shut down one of the cylinder banks? Do you have to downshift from 7th to 6th or even 5th? Not that I'd ever do it, I'd rather pay for gas than transmission or engine repair. 2nd. For auto drivers, the lack of the 8 speed is a real disappointment and there is no way I'd buy a C7 knowing that the 8 speed will be available in the 2015 or (more likely) 2016 model year. I guarantee that 8 speed auto will shave at least .2 seconds off of 0-60 relative to the 6 speed auto. And I bet the 8 speed auto will be every bit as fast as the 7 speed manny.

I actually like the car on three sides. I don't like the camaro rear. That will not grow on me.

Same thing happened when the C6 & C5 came out. It's all about ego. Won't be long before all the loud mouth morons will be joining the stampede to buy a C7.

The front of the C7 looks GTRish but the butt is from a newer Camaro. Odd mix at first, but I think it will become popular. Looks like an interesting blend of influences that reach out to both a younger and older market. Like any car, you need to see it in the flesh to really experience it, especially the interior.

I'm still in the market of a C6, my favorite look since the C2. But I'm also looking at Porsches, which have changed less radically, a trend that provides the comfort of consistency yet lacks excitement.

I would bet the prices of C6s will decline, as the previous generation always does on the cusp of a new model rollout, at least for a while as the new gen grabs attention for those with the deep pockets.

It's not just the styling. If one were in the market for an auto trans C7 GM has not given anyone a reason to buy one....yet.

Let's review all that new tech:

extra gear in MT (unnecessary)
Cylinder deactivate (totally useless marketing tool)
rear eLSD - will probably break during hard driving, and not a selling point for me. After all, Acura's have them...
Direct Injection - cool, but the M3 has it, so does RS4, R8, many newer cars... All slower than most corvettes at a track.. And hard to reprogram if not impossible..
Aluminum frame from C5 design- that's original.. Doesn't my 2008 C6Z06 have one too??
Narrower tires.
Tiny hood luvres - Don't see those holding the front end down, but I'm no expert.. Real track stars will probably need upgrade.
rev matching - see cylinder deactivate above...

I'm sure this car is way ahead technically of a c6 z06. But it is slower, they admitted that by saying it is faster than a GS...

They haven't touched on the stuff that got me to buy a c6z06 (1LZ): simple, classic sports car - easy to mod, ready to track, light, and powerful and relatively LOW TECH.

I love corvettes. I do not like the new body. A Z06 model will probably run twice or more what I paid for my c6Z06 new. That's a different class of car in my opinion... Now I understand those Ferrari headlights. Please don't get me wrong when I say I can afford one, I just probably won't buy one.

...Oh, and my mom WITHOUT Alzheimer's thinks it's bugly... So there ; )

This forum reminds me EXACTLY of the C5 forum when the C6 came out just another day at the office

I guess what Im saying is I think the style is so drastic and wierd for a Vette it will take time to get used to... I personally plan to have one parked next to my C6 and C5 FRC. Plenty of love to go around...
Funny how that works! I feel the same way. Didn't care for the C5 for the longest time. Loved the C6 right off the bat and now own one. Looked at the C5 b4 buying a C6 but just was gaga over the C6 widebody. But I'm still digging the C5. So much so that I might use it as an excuse to add a yellow car to the stable!

The red makes the C7 seem very busy. Paint it Cyber Grey and a lot of the busyness goes away. Cyber Grey however will not fix the rear end. The C7's cool it's just not very classic much like the newer Ferrari's and the Mclaren. The C6, early C3's, C2's will be beautiful forever much like the DB Aston Martin's. They are clean and lovely to look at.

How do you explain the people who liked the C5 to C6 transition but hate this one? (I'm one of those people BTW)

The C6 hate was probably due to different reasons, apples to oranges here.

C7 back end will NEVER grow on some people, the rest of the car will. It's easier to get over the lack of flip up headlamps on a C6 (for a C5 owner) versus the entire destruction of the back end on the C7.

There is no double thumb so I had to post it twice. hahah

Give me a low mileage GNX and I sell my C6 before you can say "Yo, MTV raps."

I think it is awesome and would trade my 2012 GS in a second. But I got the GS for $17,000 off MSRP and 0% financing. That is the difference for me. I doubt there will be a similar deal on the C7 for several years.

It does not really matter the reason, it was the same banter back and forth from all the C5 guys saying how much they did not like the C6 was my point... shorter rear end, no pop up head lights, sharp lines vs more curve lines of the C5... I could go on, but it;s pointless to debate...I am not gonna try and go back and resurrect threads that are 6+ years old

The C6 was/is a great Corvette...stout performance and some good refinements over the C5...I just have never been a fan of the base C6 looks, JMO... doesn't mean its any less of a Corvette, or subpar in any way just my preference.

Saying " The C7 back end will NEVER grown on some people" is a pretty general and bold statement ..only time will tell... I actually don't care for it that much myself, but I don't hate it either. Rest of the C7 looks and I am very excited to see it finally released..and even more, can't wait to see it's final performance numbers.
