You asked so I say go with the cats. They are on for a good reason. Against Federal law not to run them, plus the car will smell without the cats.
Power loss is minimal.

Eliminating the cats doesn't buy you any horsepower to speak of, it just makes your exhaust very loud and makes everything around you smell like gasoline. Plus it's illegal everywhere, environmentally irresponsible, and just downright tacky. And someday you or a future owner might want to live in one of the 20 or so states that require emissions testing to register a car.

put the cats on...ask your tuner. I put longtubes on the 05 I had. Tuner advised me no hp gain for not having them plus the gas smell. After all was said and done, I had a pretty good hp gain after the header install and the tune. Plus the good sound. I don't think you will regret installing the cats.

Put the cat's on to be sure if it is a street car. TLS is correct to a degree that exhaust will reek less of gas the leaner the tune. That said, the car will be louder in a not better way...and trust me my car is f'ing loud. Also, the are so MANY ways to make a cat and the design dictates how much of the hydrocarbon residual is oxidized. I have LG long tubes and NPP exhaust, of course with cats, and it seems like the further out I go on the clock the more my exhaust stinks. I hear this is the inherent nature of cats to sorta burn up and lose their efficacy over time. If I am wrong then another member can provide more light but I have watched a few people spit the cat's out the rear end while watching them run from a 20 roll.

The disclaimer at the end of this ad states that it is not emissions legal, for those who care.
I never had a problem with fuel smell on my (ecm) tuned catless exhaust on my '91.
The '12's have 4 cats and could have fitment issues with aftermarket exhaust. Anyone have first hand experience with this?
