Default Considering a 2011 Grand Sport... Anything I should know?

I am considering a 2011 Grand Sport 4LT M6 Coupe. Are there any common issues I should know about in advance or anything to look for specifically on the car? Anything that I should check to make sure it's been done or not done?

Thanks in advance!

Good choice. No problems with mine, except the items mentioned by Garret.
Be prepared to get lots of attention.

YOU WILL BE STRUCK WITH THE AFFLICTION THAT MANY OF US CORVETTE OWNERS SUFFER FROM KNOWN AS "PERMAGRIN"...It's isn't fatal, but can be hard to fight once you've driven the new Vette...

i have a 2011 GS A6 and i have heard nothing specific that you have to check on.
i would do normal and usual inspection you would would for any car, damage and any obvious misuse.

i would also look under the doors for any cracks on the body caused by raising the car on the body frame without pucks, pushing up on the outside body panel and cracking it.

i would smell the hot engine for any sweet smell of antifreeze leaks and visually look at the ends of all coolant hoses where they clip, for any orange goop caused by slow oozing antifreeze. nothing major, just eyeball inspection.

tires will look worn if they have 8k and that will be normal, seems you can expect 5k on a bad alignment or up to 16k on a really good one. get a good pfadt performance street done as soon as you can after purchase.. http://www.pfadtracing.com/blog/wp-c...-alignment.pdf

alot of us, me included, got ceramic brake pads because (like above post said), you will be tired of having black rims.

you might look under the nose, the spoiler and small scrapes will not be surprising, any cracked or bent or damage, be concerned.

Thanks for this post. I, too, am looking at a 2011 GS. The car has 13k miles on it and, surprisingly, the tires look pretty good.

Default Advise on purchase price & seat support

Hello Forum, I'm considering 2011 C-6- 6.2 430hp w/9000 mi 6speed auto w/paddle shift removable hard top, 6 disc CD, perforated leather inserts asking 39K always garaged. Q! Is price hi med low?.

Will use it as primary car, I'm in sales and marketing mainly dr around town. My concern are the seats, I read reviews about seats not comfy, feel lumpy and lack support. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks

ChevyDave great info, thx.

price i dont know, i havent researched lately so will skip that topic.

seat, yes, that i can answer on...
i have driven over 12 hours at a time in many cars. my c6 isnt the most comfortable one. actually, funny, but the most comforable one was my old neon.. lol. my brother has one of those luxury buicks and he wasnt impressed with my seat. (no surprise) so, bottom line, i like ajusting the seat, puffing up different parts and feeling like i am now.. locked in and another part of the car.
try one, puff up all different parts of the seat, get that.. i am locked in feeling. short of having a 5 point seat harness, you will feel secure and unless you are very very tall or very very very overweight, you will feel good and the seat will be the least of your concerns. my wife loves the seat and for some reason thinks the heated seat here in oklahoma is a must.. lol

I recommend having the front / rear alignment checked.

If you don't plan on tracking your GS, have the alignment set to the mean of the tolerance band to maximize tire life.

ChevyDave great info, thx.

one thing to keep in mind is that they had lots of different options you could get. you might do kelly blue book and see what options were available and how each one adds to value. for instance, i added all my options to base 2011 gs 3lt and it was 8k added to value.

youd have to write them all the options down (with value) and see what they have or dont have

The brakes are great, they do throw quite a bit of dust but that's what high performance brake pads do. If you apply a good sealer or similar product for wheels, (Armor All makes a product to control brake dust), the wheels will then clean up is pretty easily. I really love my car. It's a pleasure to simply drive it to Whole Foods. It's also really awesome on a track. It's a great car!

Only problem with my "11 GS vert has been the harmonic balancer problem that affects seemingly a good percentage of them. If you hear the squeal/chirp from the front of the engine get it to the dealer for a warranty replacement. Mine happened at 5000 miles

Bought mine in Oct 2012 and the only problem with my 11 GS vette is I can't stop driving it. I hate having to put it in storage during the winter.

My tires lasted 11k along with my harmonic balancer. Keep an eye on the alignment.
