I agree....usually these posts are just looking for attention hence they reason they have to throw the age in there... When it comes to being able to afford a $40k vette...29 isn't that young anyways.

I'm a little bit older than you at 35 and I just bought my first 'Vette several months ago. If it is what you want and you can afford it, who cares what the rest of your friends think? By a car you like and will enjoy driving.

I am no longer 29, I bought my first vette at 26, new, and I have owned 4' so far, I now own 2 and I am 58. There was a 22year gap between my first and next vette...due to obligations to put 3 children through college. The function of age generally has to due with the fact that these cars cost north of $60k, my Z06/Z07 had an MSRP of $98.6k. I don't know too many 20 something year olds that can afford that? If you want a vette, buy one, if you are worried about what others think, you have bigger problems.

Bought my first vette at age 39 (last year). I heard the same thing from my friends/family but I bought the car anyway. I couldn't be happier right now. Get the car that YOU want. Enjoy!

Same here, bought my C3 Coupe when I was 29. Never had gold chains and never saw a Vette owner with gold chains. OP, you must have been hallucinating in front of the TV with one of your reality shows.

Kind of like Jersey Shore but now we have senior citizens on Viagra driving these beautiful machines. Are there any young professionals out there who drive or own these things? Also would i stick out like a sore thumb if i had a yellow c6 Z06???
I am a younger professional (at times!) and I am 31.....but have had Corvettes since I was 19.

I do get "Thats an old mans car." from some people but mostly I feel it because they wish they could get one. Most of my friends who have Camaro's, Firebirds, Mustangs....etc all love the car and think its great and would have one in a minute if they could.

Drive what you want and dont worry about other people.

31 with my first Vette, got a few comments. The stigma exist because it's usually later in life that one can afford the vehicle. After they have paid off their houses, put kids through college etc. Some people simply have no logic/rationale to be able to reason things. Get the Vette.

people always say that about anything nice and unique.....when you are young people will tell you that YOU CANT AFFORD IT and YOU ARE NOT MATURE ENOUGH or not. when you can afford it and are able to control your smashing of the skinny pedal (somewhat) then you are described as going through midlife crisis or looking for penile enhancements.

in reality...most of us that married and had families early in our lives could not afford what we loved and lusted when it comes to motorcycles, cars, guns, etc...so we put off our own needs or desires to raise our families. now that kids are grown.....job is better with hopefully a larger salary....we can finally start relaxing and not living paycheck to paycheck.....and that is when the Harley, Indian, Ducati, Vette, GT500, Viper, etc enters the picture.
Usually it is just the opinionated and elite that think they know best for everyone else or are just jealous they are not able to finally realize a dream....that say these things. you never hear someone else driving a vette or riding an Indian Motorcycle telling another driver or rider they are too old or irresponsible no matter the age difference.

They get it...it is more about the history...they tradition....the feeling of something different...it reaches deep inside of you and sometimes cant be explained....but most everyone else in same boat knows exactly what you are feeling.

sure there are always those that KEEP UP WITH JONES's....they buy the newest, fastest or most expensive to gain their pedastal in the neighborhood HOA or amongst their circle of friends who also more than not, are the same way.... I dont count them...as in a year when the newer or best or fastest thing comes out...they get bored, or want to stay one step above someone they know and sell the bike or car for pennies...and get the next best thing.

Those types are the best thing to happen to the secondary market on toys such as sports cars or motorcycles....low miles, low sale price usually.

buy what you want, with the options you desire....and ignore the haters...they will always be there. I wish I was in your position back in my 20s to get one....instead I was doing the college then military then family thing...here I am at 49 and hoping to have one in next 12 months and still feel a little hesitant...especially with an offroad vehicle in drive....Indian Chief in garage.....and the best wife I could hope for that just celebrated 30 years together on 31 Dec. Life is good.....enjoy it to the fullest.

I'm 30; I guess if I'd bought it to impress other people I'd care about "stereotypes", but I didn't, so I don't. Life is too short to spend it in a vain attempt to impress other people. Every year that goes by I believe that more and more.

Yellow is a bit to "look at me!!!" for me, but I'm probably not too far behind with red, so if yellow is your thing, why not?

I've always admired them from teenage years onward and if someone had handed me one earlier in life I would have welcomed it with open arms at any age. As it is, I'm sure I'm probably younger than the average vette buyer; I see it as the upside to being single. I didn't do it until I had other things squared away like college, house, stable job, proper amount of income diverted to retirement/savings, etc. And even then, it was probably not a "smart" financial decision at all, and if I had a wife and kid(s) to take care of I wouldn't have done it. A few things happened to people around me in the last year that drove home that you only live once; I hadn't had a "fun car" in a while, so I did it. We all got to make our own decisions about what we are comfortable with financially and otherwise.
