Theft of tires off a C-6
Guys,
Just a heads up. In Slidell La. last week they had a thief steal all four tires and rims off a C-6. The bad part of it is the used a regular jack and crushed every place they jacked it up. They did more damage to the Corvette that what the tires were worth. Make sure you have wheel locks on yours.

I wonder if this owner is one that didn't believe in wheel locks? Or if he had them and they were defeated.

Wheel locks my slow down a thief but may not prevent a theft.

Wheel locks are not 100%, one guy here even came out in the morning to find his C6 on pavers and all 20 Gorilla Nuts stacked in neat piles.
But they load the nice in your favor a little.

Jim, I don't think that's what was reported. There has never been a post here (as far as I remember) that a Corvette with locks had his wheels stolen and surely not with 20 Gorilla locks.

If you add a tilt sensor, it might at least let you know your car is being messed with. 20 Gorilla locks are also a good idea. I have both.

So they took the tires and left the rims? j/k
That sucks, I am sorry to hear this and even more sorry that they messed up your car even more so than just taking the wheels/tires.

More than likely some drug addict looking for that next fix...
Wheel locks may deter them or they may **** the person off and cause more damage. If someone wants it they will take it.

All wheel locks are easily defeated if the theif has the knowledge. I imagine these cars are parked somewhere not secure? A garage slows them down and keeps it out of site, and a fenced yard with a good dog usually deters most theives.......
Crooks are the scum of the earth......down here the gators get fed well from time to time and one less theif.

The weren't rusty but not that clean. I've had these for 7 years on a vette that sits out in the weather and is driven in all types of weather and every couple of years I take them off and use some chrome polish on them to bring them back to almost new condition.

But I recall being surprised at the idea of thieves removing all 20 of those nuts, so I read it again back then and interperted it the same way.
Or perhaps my problem is senility instead of wheel theft.
Either way, as we both know...
Any theft deterrant system can be defeated, the only hope is to find a nice balance between not enough security on one hand, or too much cost/PITA factor on the other hand. The only "right" answer is that anything from no locks to Gorillas and a Doberman, is still a guess.

If there are 2 Corvettes next to each other, one having 20 Gorilla locks and one without, most likely the one without will lose it's wheels if a thief wants a set.
