I still own my original 88 5 spd. 3.55 Mustang GT and my 2005 C-6 4spd. auto with F-55 both ordered from factory. Two different cars and eras but if you want to compare the two the Mustang is a better daily driver even at this age, easier to park, don't have to worry about low driveways or curbs, but the biggest negative on Mustang is suspension as the rear end likes to jump when hitting a bump, car will oversteer especially on damp roads . Getting the right tires does help but not a remedy in wet weather driving as weight is more in front than back but it is a very durable car easier to maintain yourself cause it has less stuff and electronics on it remember 1988 and it has 5 mph bumpers for parking, spark plugs easier to change, cap, rotor with PCV valve.
2005 Corvette rides like a Cadillac on real world roads compared to old Mustang. Corvette is much more comfortable to drive, more power, more luxury, up to date gets better gas mileage.
Too difficult to park without damaging front end or rear as you can't see out. Watch out for curbs/driveways that will take out your radiator supports/ front end. Have to be more careful in this car not to do any damage to it. Any part on Corvette cost more than a Mustang part because you have to pay "Corvette Tax".

And a blacked out vette with red accents give me more of a chubby then a mustang . They both are cool cars just a vette is a VETTE like I said I will do more hw my max is 28 k no more then that. And il look into how much mods are . Could I put snow tires on stock rims then buy my aftermarket set? Or is that going to depend on which model I get

You can mod anything to be faster than everything else out there. What a stupid argument.

You can love them but they are slow. You had an LS1 F-Body.....you know how much faster they are than the 4V 4.sucks.

I told this kid to buy your car. Its in the price he is looking for.

Very true.
We're spoiled by C6s now of course a stock 4V Cobra is slow.

I'd buy another 4V Cobra before anotehr LS1 TA. I just really loved driving mine.

Your comment of its only 30 more hp was dumb buddy. Anyone who mods these cars know that mod to mod on the LS2 vs the LS3, the LS3 will make more and the curve only gets better as the power increases.

I talked to a dealer today first thing I told him was in waiting until after winter . Looked at a 06 vette listed at 26.9 with 33k miles. He's like what price range would you pay. I reply 27k otd knowing I'm not buying . He disappears and comes back and says my boss will do 27k otd today I said I'm not buying it today it's winter I want to learn to drive it in spring at least. He says why the hell did you waste my time an make a offer. I was so confused I told him to F off lol. But 27k otd is still a little high for a 06 don't you think

Not really, at least from a dealer.

you learned today ,what many of us already knew. Dealers generally sit on vettes through winter, or give good discounts to offload them. If in fact you are choosing to go with the vette, this may be a great chance for you to get into one for less money than you planned. Spring will be here before you know it.....and prices go back up.

That's how it looks in terms of power stock to stock to stock. I have owned them all. The 5.0 is no joke. I ran 12.4@115 bone stock on stock tires. With a tune I went 12.0@117 still on the stock tires.
I have seen many coments like this. Here is what is confusing: if ls3 beats 5.0 by about 2 cars from 45 to 120, and has similar outcome with ls2, then how is 5.0 faster then ls2? Many say that 5.0 will beat ls2, but it will loose to ls3. You have to understand that the difference between ls2 and ls3 is pretty narrow(like I mentioned above about 2 cars) therefore ls2mn6 vs 5.0 is a drivers race. Maybe auto with tall gears will loose a car or so, but mn6, especially z51mn6 will not be any slower then 5.0. Also if the race goes past 120 then aerodynamics of a vette will play a role. Corvette has superior handling and a much better allaround car. Finally, if you plan on modding, there is not much you can do to 5.0 after the basic boltons, unless you are willing to spend some good money. On the other hand you can swapp a cam on a vette and get some good gains, for around 1600$, and for another 2k throw heads on it and make serious power.

It depends totally on the condition. I spent more than that on an 06 vert, loaded with everything, with 35K miles. But... it was one owner, complete service history, garage kept, detailed every few months, not a scratch, chip, ding, or mark. It also had brand new RFT, new brakes, recent trans, radiator, brake flush. When I took it to the local Vette repair/service guy, he said it was pristine. The underside looked as good as the painted surfaces. It was also a color combination that I probably would not have chosen, but now love.

So, for me, condition and obvious care by prior owner, are much more important that year. I'm sure I could have found a 07-09 for the same price, but maybe in no where near as nice condition.

Seriously consider having any vehicle you consider inspected by an independent, "Corvette Only" repair facility. If a dealer won't agree to that, walk.

Add up the costs of things that the vehicle needs and consider that in your price comparison.

Good luck.

How about a stock 2005 ls2 A-4 with 3.15 rear end? How does this fare against all of the above.

Same.

You have decent gearing in 1st gear and in the rear but the typical fall off to 2nd gear with the 4L65E tranny ratios. However, it wont be behind enough to say so......with that rear gearing it should be right with the A6 cars.
