When I had a new Challenger R/T I was always getting thumbs up, getting stories from people who either had one, wished they had had one or wanted one.

I dont get any of that with the new C6. In fact it is usually some comment about being in middle aged crisis, over compensating for a small dick or how it must be nice to be rich.

Usually when I tell them I have a car that cost 38k new, that gets around 30mpg on the road and is cheap to insure they are sort of shocked.

It just seems that Vettes are generally misunderstood. At least around here. I admit before I got mine and was always into Mopars we called the Vette guys at cruise ins the windex brigade because we felt they had no clue about their cars only how to stick on more chrome under the hood.

I owned my first Vette when I was 29, never experienced anything negative, only complements, some more enthusiastic than others.

I get mostly compliments on my present Corvette, as I have had on my previous ones. Once in awhile, I will hear comments from the so called "know it alls" (who actually know nothing)...about how much better the Stingrays were, or such and such Corvette over the new ones. Most have never driven either, but they still voice their opinions anyway.
I always tell them that I had those too, and how today's Vette is so much better! Why I bother to explain myself....I don't know!

I agree....so what. You're in your 20s and own a Vette...you supposedly worked hard and made good decisions...so what. The "look at me attitude" draws the hate.

We are going to need pics of the 19-29 year olds....otherwise.

Have not experienced hate here myself but then its pretty common to see Lambo's, Ferrari's, Jag's, Aston's at the local Walmarts here in So. Cal/

I have not experienced any hate, just the usual ricer or mustanger that comes up and revs their engine. I just ignore them, they mean nothing to me. I'm happy to talk to anyone about the cars if they want to listen.

Same here. Over 6 years of vette ownership and i can only recall 2 negative comments. Im actually more surprised at how many kids that are under 10 years old always wave and say nice vette!

Mostly compliments. Usually from "older" people. When I had my S2000 the kids loved it. Don't get that so much with the Corvette. Haven't got that "middle age crisis" comment yet but I've had sports cars only since 1970 so I guess I must have been middle aged at 16.

In the 16 years I have been driving a Vette, I have not had any problems. I only get compliments, thumbs ups, and kids excited to see a cool car.

To the OP:
I would be suspicious about the story you heard. Corvettes don't dent. You can break a body panel but you can't dent it and it takes a lot more force to break one than it takes to dent a metal car. That is why they are so much better than metal cars.

I have owned Vettes for over 30 years and only had 1 problem and that was that one person did not like the mod I made. He did not hate the Vette, just the mod.
