Default Convertible Wind Noise

Hello All, and Happy Holidays! I own a 2009 Covert and yes I understand that they are noiser than a coupe but there seems to be a lot of noise coming from the rear deck under the rear window. Just wondering if I am missing something that may need to be adjusted to compress the top on to the deck.

Thank You
Chuck

Many have said that the vert is actually a little quieter then a coupe. Never been in a coupe so personally cant say either way.

I have an 08 Vert and do not have any of the noise issues you are mentioning.... Does it sound like exhaust noise?

I have two Verts and they are both quieter than the 89 or my 97 or my buddies 10 Coupe.

I have an 07 and it is actually very quiet. Did you get it new or just pick it up? Are the rear speakers installed or did the previous owner remove the divider? Mine is acually very quiet as I am closed off from the rear of the car so I do not get the exhaust noise or rear wheel noise. Mine only gets noisy above 65mph when the wind is really whipping along the top.

A long time ago there was a thread about this. The noise came from the trunk lid being adjusted a little too far aft which leaves a larger gap in the front. Try taking a piece of masking tape (won't hurt paint) and put it all the way across the gap in the front...see if the noise goes away.

I have the same "wind noise" issue with my "11 GS convertible. Everyone says it is the GY tires. I agree there is some road noise, but a previous C6 convertible I had never had this rushing air noise. I think I'll try taping the trunk lid and see if that could be the cause.

I think my 11 GS Vert sounds quieter than the 08 coupe but I also noticed the 11 has some insulation the 08 didn't have. I just notice some wind noise with my 11 Vert around 80mph or so. Nothing really.

Vert is definitely quieter with the NPP in open and everything closed.

I just wish I could hear the wind again! -45 below here and the vette is hibernating. Sometimes I go out to the shop and peek under the cover just to remember what it looks like.

That's pretty chilly!

The only noise I hear is my Corsa Extreme sounding off!!

Another vote for quieter here. There is NO exhaust resonance either.

I feel your pain. Fortunately I'll get a bit of the speed rush now that the lake ice is frozen with about 10" of good ice and enough snow cover so I can get the snowmobiles out for run this weekend and do some ice fishing.

I've got a 2013 Vert and it is quieter than any of the coupes I've ridden in before.

You can just look forward to when it warms up to 0 degrees and you can put the top down again.

Are you hearing more of a wind noise type of sound indicating that the soft top's gasket may not be compressing against the tonneau tightly enough, or is it road noise/rumble coming from underneath, through the trunk?

You could test/guage the top's seal against the tonneau by closing the top with some pieces of paper laying between the two 'mating' surfaces and then try to pull them out once the top's all the way up and latched.

That's a good idea, I will try the paper and see where it goes.
Thank you
