It always happens that way in the new Corvette cycle, I bought mine $14K off at the bottom of the production cycle in winter 2011, so I imagine $20K off with the C7 upcoming is likely, but one will have to settle for common colors and options.
If you want shock, look at the going prices for C5's! It is hard to believe a 175 mph car can be so cheap for nice examples
Of course you have to temper the dropping C6 prices with the upcoming normal new generation lack of supply; greedy dealers charging over list price (or a whole lot closer than they are with the C6) for someone to be "the first on the block to own one"; no convertibles; and not much choice on options that usually goes on for 1-2 years till the supply chain gets refilled.

Actually I was looking at the C5 for sale forum just for kicks a couple days ago, and couldn't believe how HIGH some of the asking prices were...25 to almost 30k for low mile ones. If my C6 holds value like that I might be rocking a C7 sooner than I ever thought. If the C7 offers something I really like of course....

Heh... oh trust me, it will be a couple years for proper bank account recovery, and it would probably have to be the same ~12k off kind of deal we got this time as well... so no worries for a while. I'll expect you to lead the way and do a proper sales job like last time.

I think the car will be successful but they need to have a flawless launch. GM has to address some of the quality issues coming out of the plant. Poor paint and body panel fit are unacceptable at this price. Their competition is bringing out nice cars for less money as well. I will wait and see before I take the plunge from my Z06. There are just too many cars in this price range and lower to choose from that can put a smile on my face.

If the C7 is a smash, I believe the opposite to be true. High demand for the C7 will mean no rebates for the first few years and little or no discounts from MSRP. Regardless of all the theories being thrown around, the biggest impact on used prices is what new cars are selling for. If you want a Corvette and can't afford the $65-70k price for a new one with no incentives or special financing, a used C6 will still be very attractive at $10-15k cheaper. Prices might dip a bit as final inventories are liquidated AFTER the C7 actually starts hitting lots but I think will recover quickly as a $45-50k C6 will look like a bargain compared to a $65k C7.

If the C6 were a flop or there was going to be a substantial jump in performance, I would have a different perspective. Neither are true for the C6/C7. Some of the C7 stats have been released and so far, the performance improvements are minimal. In addition, the C6 body style is still highly attractive.

As far as prices go, I bought my GS in Aug when the buying season was still in progress. I purchased at almost a $13,000 discount before using GM card points ($13,000+ after using points). I've been monitoring prices out of curiosity for the forum dealers (including the one I bought from) and haven't seen a substantial increase in discounts since I bought mine. There are greater discounts out there on some 4LT, 427s, Z06 and ZR1's and only if you include the loyalty discount (I did not have a loyalty discount when I bought mine).

What you also have to remember is that there is going to be an entire spring/summer buying season with no supply of new Corvettes until late summer. I haven't seen any dealers over-stocking on Corvettes locally or internet dealers. From what I've seen, most dealers who are stocking Corvettes are smartly stocking an adequate supply for those buyers looking to pick up a close-out deal on a C6 rather than paying full-price for a C7.

considering that $10k or more off MSRP on C6s still new on the lots is common, not much reason for anyone to buy used unless it is an unbelievable deal.

So far I have not been able to find used that makes sense.
Leaning towards new.

Seriously I think you had a solid price on it. Hang in there. Not a great time of year to sell with people spending all their cash on Christmas.

I can't see 20k off but I could be wrong. You'll still have buyers that would rather have a new C6 over the C7 so they're not going to give them away.

It's a tough market for all generations but a buddy of mine just sold his 04Z for 30

they aren't selling. those owners are in dream land. every now and then someone gets high 20s to 30 for a ultra low mile z16.

the rest of the guys are just putting up ads to stare at their cars

i agree, used prices are kind of silly when you consider new. i'm not sure what a lot of the sellers are thinking
