What is it?
I'm a new vette owner and this is probably a dumb question, but what is that mechanism on the back side of the head rests?

Also; if you tilt the seat back fully forward, it will lock in that position so you can retrieve stuff behind the seat without fighting the seat back.
When you are finished, you need to tilt the seat slightly more forward and lift up on the latch, so the seat back will return to its original position.

I'm 5'-10" but short legs, I have enough room behind the seats to easily use those GM "saddle bags" that hang behind the seats and are about 2" thick. I do sit closer to the steering wheel than some folks.
When my taller friends drive the car, we need to remove everything from behind the seat so they can get it back far enough.

It's not really a dumb question as far as I am concerned. I had owned my car for about 8 months and happened to mentioned to a buddy that I didn't like the fact that my seat wouldn't tilt forward. He pointed out the button--"Oh!! OK!! Thanks."--------

While we are on the topic... there is about 4-5 inches of play on both my seats when it's in the locked position. Is this normal? You can grab the seat and move it back and forth a few inches without engaging the latch. You need to engage the latch to completely fold the seat foward, but it doesn't stay securely locked when fully upright. Just seems odd.

No offence, but why is it NOT a dumb question? If you wondered if the seat back adjusted, would you not just look? If you saw that obvious button, would you not try it? Sorry, but yea, dumb question.
