Here is a general question. How many on this board believe their new or used C6 was sufficiently detailed by the dealer prior to delivery?
In my case, the dealer who sold me my brand new 2012 C6 was outstanding in every way and I would certainly purchase from him again. My only potential complaint is that he could have paid a little more attention to the car itself prior to delivery. The car was washed off but not hand dried (water spots). It was clearly not waxed (that rough drag feel to the surface of the paint), and the inside of the driver's door had a shoe scuff down low in the usual place (easily cleaned but why did I have to do it?)...
Now, I realize that like most 'Vette owners, I am a bit "over the top" obsessive when it comes to my car looking perfect all the time and I also realize many buyers would probably not have noticed these little things. Still, I believe the dealer could have paid better attention
BTW, I remember years ago when I worked for AMC/Jeep, we completely washed, waxed, and detailed EVERY vehicle that went out the door. We took serious pride of everything we delivered...
I purchased mine from Tim@boardwalk and had it delivered to me on an open truck. It had a good enough coat of wax on it that cleaning the shipping crud off was pretty easy. So, yes, I was happy with it.

Most dealers have no really detailing crew. Oh they have the guys that will wash the cars and run a vacuum, but that is about it. I see more damage done to the finish on new cars by dealers then good. I would have told them not to even touch it. That is what I did when we bought the wife's new car. They said it was part of the deal, that they would clean it up prior to pickup. Again I told them no, that I would do it.
As you mentioned yours had water spots, that just goes to show you what they know about properly cleaning and detailing.
Mine was done nicely. It was spotless. I asked that it NOT be waxed, as I wanted to coat it with a polymer protectant like Rejex or Zaino and I didn't want the hassle of having to remove the wax. (I will avoid diverting the thread by mentioning which product I use.). The dealer did not install the cargo net or cover, which I thought a little strange, but also did not install any stickers or dealership advertising of any kind.
I purchased my 427 off the showroom floor so it was already detailed and they did a nice job throughout! I will add that when I did buy it was a "spot" delivery meaning I literally bought on the spot and asked them not to do any further detailing although I was offered it. I detailed it myself that weekend!!

Mine was very close to perfect. The paint was perfect. The interior was almost perfect. I did find some dust under the weatherstrip around the hatch but other than that it looked perfect. Then again, it was a National Corvette Museum delivery and they do have some experience at preparing cars for display in the museum before delivery.
My car was prepped to my satisfaction. I have a very good dealer, car people. The deal I got was not great (OK) but handling of warranty and associated GM issues were super. Also there service and body shop will satisfy most Corvette owners.
Very happy with the detailed look of my Vette when I picked it up. Not sure what they did or what products they used but it was clean and unmarked inside and out.
No complaints or concerns.
That was my experience also. It was "spot" purchase and the car was in the showroom so it had already been cleaned up. The still took it into the shop and gave it a good once over. My wife and I were able to watch them do it and they did a great job.
As said most dealers dont have a true detailer anymore, I would rather them deliver mine dirty and let me clear it. With that who expects a dealer to wax a car these days, there is nothing that states a dealer is required ot wax the car before final delivery only that it be clean and presentable to the new customer.
