Default 1/4 IN. wheel spacer installed

threw one on today and only had 4 complete turns on the lug nut. Doesn't seem too safe to me. So, off it came. And No, I don't want to put longer studs in.

Why do you need spacers? You got the wrong backspacing on your wheels?

I think you can get some aftermarket lugs that will give you more turns...I'm not sure though...

If you don't have enough thread sticking out from the stud, you will need longer studs to make it safe IMO.

you can also get studs are at the same length as the originals but have threads all the way to end. No need for ET lug nuts if you do that.

A few weeks ago on here, people wondered if just the 1/4 in. spacer would fit safely on their vettes without changing studs or extended lugnuts. Just wanted to let people know there was only 4 turns left.

Thanks Speedraider, I was seriously considering these for the same reason.

Indeed there's a vendor posting often on CF selling his 1/4" spacers who maintains "there's plenty of threads" & "worked great on mine" but I was still suspect as 1/4" is a lot. Your post also confirms this b/c 4 complete turns is insufficient. And installing extended lugs sounds like a royal PIA.

I might consider 1/8" spacers if available, but it seems kinda pointless.

Thanks for the post. I've got some 1/4 spacers that I haven't had time to put on my GS. I plan on using ET lugs when I do though. How did it look before you took them off?

I got mine in the mail today too. We must have purchased them from the same seller. I just got a pair to try out.
I may give it a go just to see how it looks, but will probably take it back off for safety sake.
There are many postive threads from others who've installed them so I figured why not try em.

Where can the ET lug nuts be purchased btw?
Would it make a difference?

Four turns is not enough. Good for you for playing it safe

However, that 1/2 " does make a big difference in the stance of the car when done safely.

You need 7 preferably 8 full revolutions of the lug nut. I'd go with the proper length stud instead of 'trick' lug nuts.

If you ever decide to run longer studs shoot me a PM, its involved and difficult but in the end I changed the studs without removing the hubs and now have upgraded z06 brakes behind my stock wheels

If the spacers are not hub-centric, I wouldn't even consider them, regardless of stud length. All the high-G wheel load will go directly through the wheel studs.

Here's a pic from Doug Rippee Motorsports showing some studs they offer and how they compare to OEM.

They also have spacers with hub extensions.

I used the 2.5" studs with their 5/8" spacer and got almost 12 turns on the closed lug nuts.

honestly, 1/4 of an inch didn't make a difference

Here are pics with 1/4 spacers in the rear. I think they make a difference with the stance. I put them on a week ago and keep checking lug torque...so far so good, but I'll probably take them off for safety reasons.

Thanks for the pics! Why are you worried about safety? Are you using the standard lugnuts/studs?
