It is hard to say what happened. Could be a lift arm, could be driver error also, could be road debris such as a road gator.

I'm going with curb, ****** parking lot or road gator....

Any of the above could have been me or the inspector on his road test.

Took the car out tonight and kept looking, the wife was yelling at me to forget about it and it will go away. Can't really see it in normal use and angles. Car cover and battery tender goes on it Sunday so maybe ill forget over the winter :P

Dont let it bother you.
I know it stands out to you, but it will likely go unnoticed by anyone else

Default Same damage!

new 04' left cash station in a hurry where curbs are built high to protect machines. Sure enough, scraped curb. Wife took 50th anniversary thru another cash station, same thing only on opposite side. Not tons of damage but damage none the same. Easily repairable but it sucks. I now have a centennial gs vert callaway 6 Spd with c.f. Rockers. When I go to the bank now, I go inside to the cash station and park it far away for the one minute I'm inside. If you made a withdrawal, that's what happened. Maybe radio up loud? That damage would keep me from sleeping well. Trust me, just got caught in a construction zone and made an 800.00 carbon fiber front splitter mistake. Not broken in half but damaged. If I have to buy a third c.f. Splitter, gonna paint number one body color and give up. The c.f. Splitter ruined my whole week. Especially when I pre drive routes to restaurants the week before in a different car to make sure my splitter clears grade of driveway before I show up in car. Damage sucks but I guess you have to open wallet and move on. It's gonna happen.

Before you put it away just fix it with touch up paint. Where it is no one but you and all of us you showed it to will ever know it's there.

You need to find a shop that will let you in the garage while your car is being worked on. I have a friend who does all my work, and every time my car goes up in the air, I'm right there.

Good news! This can be an easy fix. Can't change what happened, whatever it was, but you sure can make a decision on how you deal with it.

Get it fixed ...move on

I believe the damage could have been caused by lift arms if a 2 post lift was used. I have a Rotary 2 post & when lifting any C-5 or C-6 the welded support on the lift arms can contact the rockers if you are not careful. Don't ask how I know.

Pretty sure I found evidence that it was there on the way home from the dealership.

That was taken 2 hours after I bought the car at a rest stop on the way home, bottom of the rocker behind the door line can see a white spot.

Nothing I can do about it, makes me feel better that I didn't do it.

Found the full resolution pic and cropped at 100%... I'd say that's conclusive that it was there when I bought it

Not sure how I missed it for so long... But I guess that means I won't get it fixed right away

Unfortunately I think now that you know it is there it will bother you. At least that is how I am with even a small chip.
In the Spring bring it to a good shop and have it repaired.

Definitely a home touch-up job. No need to waste money or effort. It's so low, you'll never notice it once touched-up.

And if you do it in your garage you might just as well paint it red...it will stick out (to you) that bad. A good shop can do it right for less than a grand. You might even find a local forum member that would do it for paint as a favor to a newbie...

That kind of damage on a Vette will hurt resale value. Some lift arms will absolutely cause that kind of damage. Happened to my C6 coupe at a local chain tire shop years ago. Some don't use lifting puck either. They just don't give a crap.

I scraped mine on the crown of a driveway a few years ago. More under though. Can only be seen when on a lift. Haven't fixed it.

Get it fixed by a good body shop. In three months you won't even remember it. Can you turn it in on your insurance and make out OK?
