I have had this problem on my last Corvette, a 2005 convertible purchased new, and my current Corvette, a 2009 coupe with 6K miles. In the case of the 2005 related failure, it lead to a serious accident when the clutch failed after I had shifted into reverse, and I lost control of the car. Fortunately, the second incident occurred while the car was still in the garage, and not in gear. While I can see that there are maintenance solutions to prevent this failure, why has there not been at least a bulletin from GM recommending that, as part of normal maintenance , the condition of the reservoir fluid be checked/changed? This problem seems to be common with 6 speed Corvettes, and it is potentially very dangerous.
