Default popping and slight backfiring on deceleration

I have a 2008 C6 --LS3 with ARH headers--high flow cats and Corsa Sport System Exhaust. It was also tuned by a very reputable tuner on the east coast.

My problem is when I let off the gas or decelerate it pops and backfires once it drops down to lower rpms. Its a 6 speed and does it when I'm on the highway and back off 6th gear.

The tuner just recently put all the deceleration settings back to stock and nothing changed. Still popping like heck.

Anyone have any idea what I can do? Meanwhile, it runs very strong and sounds great when accelerating.

Thank you.

Nothing other than putting the OEM muffler back on.

I get that all the time with the bi-mode exhaust when the M2W is in the "flaps open" position...love it !

That's typical of a Vette exhaust with headers & aftermarket pipes & mufflers. I have the same setup as yours & I love the sound both accelerating & decelerating. The only way I know of to get rid of the exhaust popping is to go back to a stock exhaust.....but that's no fun!

I tend to notice it more frequently if I totally let off the go pedal right at the top of the power curve

If you still have the "H" pipe crossover, installing the Corsa "X" pipe crossover will help.

When my wife asked me what the popping was on decceleration I told her "it was the sound of awesome." It is normal.

The popping is normal - the volume is dependant on the exhaust configuration. It does it with the stock mufflers too, you just can't hear it much. The same holds true for my Yukon. I have the complete ZO6 exhaust on my base coupe and it's very loud with the flaps open- much less with them closed.

To most here the sound you are talking about puts a smile on most owners faces, in my case the car stays in S mode just so I can hear it, the louder the better, but in your case you might want to consider going back to stock exhaust, but with the headers and the high flow cats you won't be able to eliminate all the popping and gurgling, Good luck in whatever you decide,

Add an LG X3 cam and swap the Corsa for BB Bullets and you'll have a spit, pop, crackle, boom backfire festival ! Isn't that why you bought a Vette ?
