Brand new GS for 42k? The way these valves seem to be dropping lately I would just stay away from the hassle and get the GS.

I would test drive both and get a Z06 anyway.

JK but I would get the Z06, it's just an epic car. As cool as the GS is IMO you can't beat 7L of fury. YMMV

New GS is the route I'd go. If you're not racing you'll never use the potential of the Z06.

I'm a Z06 owner but if you don't want to wrench or worry about out of warranty fixes, then get the new GS.

I really wanted a Z06 but even though I have other cars to drive if it is out of service, I would hate to have to spend $17K on a new engine (for any car). I am afraid that if I had a Z06 I'd want to drive it hard once in a while and it would be my luck to own a Z with the value issue and I'd have a blown engine.

So, for me, the choice would be the new GS.

I intend to buy a new C7 or if I don't like the way they turn out, I'll find a late model Z06 with warranty.

Good luck.

Also Matt here is your lesson for the day! DO NOT put down $30k when you can get 0% financing, it's FREE money so why tie up your cash? Anyway grab that GS, that is a great deal...

This is a very difficult choice, but if you want to remove the roof the GS is a great option...

A new Vette or an 06 for about the same price. This is a no brainer.

42K for a brand new, full warrantied, '12 1LT Coupe is a fantastic deal! 40K for a 7 year old, no warranty 21,000 mile loaded Z06 is just a so so deal. Add to the fact, that the new GS has the widebody, brakes and tires that the Z06 has....it is definetly a no brainer.

Forget the Z06. It's a 7 yr old rough riding with a solid roof car. Get the new GS & if after awhile you want more power, slap a maggie or edelbrock supercharger on it & it will transform it into a RELIABLE street supercar you won't believe. As other's have said, I'd stay away from an old LS7 that might have been rode hard & put away wet.

40k is too much for an '06 ZO6,
If you relly want a Zo6 get a '08 or above. I would get the GS though.

A new Grand Sport for ~$42,000!!?? Where at? I'd be interested in that. I can't seem to find any new GS for that kind of price.

With at least one dealer selling 1LT Coupes for $34,995...I figured there have to be 1LT GS coupes out there somewhere right now for very low 40s...I just haven't seen one.

people will tell you to buy what they bought in most cases. I was in the same boat you are a while ago.. I considered a GS new, or barely used, vs a used Z06 with 12k miles on it... I've always wanted to have the fastest car in stock form that I could afford (Made the mistake of not doing this in the C5, got the coupe vs the Z and regretted it) so for me I didn't care about the top removal or having the "newer" car.

You need to drive both, and not jsut around the block twice. Drive both and pick what meets your needs and makes you happy.
