Damn CarMax and their license plates
Okay, technically it is California law that a car have a front license plate, but from what I know, it's not enforced much.
Why does CarMax find it necessary to bolt on license plate holders on EVERY Corvette they sell?
Oh, and don't get me started on "No haggle pricing."

Told my dealer DO NOT put the front plate bracket on and they did not. Guess it is one of those things you need to make clear up front. NJ requires a front plate. I keep mine in the trunk.

If the cars been drilled, this isn't a bad fix.

Yes. Haggling is positive for the consumer. NOT Haggling is positive for the dealer. The average car buyer is STUPID, really really stupid. they dont know what they want, and when they find something that looks nice, they have no idea what it is worth. the perception that the dealer has already shashed a price and said "no haggle", some people will just accept that as fact and pay the posted price.

Well Carmax is strictly no haggle to my knowledge. I've never heard of anyone getting them to change the price. If you want a place to haggle with you can always go elsewhere.

I wouldn't like the drilled holes but I understand why they'd want to sell vehicles that are in compliance with all state laws (especially in California). At this point, I'd suggest to them to find different license plate holders to use (on Corvettes) in the future....ones that don't require drilling 'visible' holes.
California loves their government control....consider long tube headers. The more reputable shops in California will not install long tube headers. The ones that do will probably require you sign and notarize an affidavit declaring the car is for off-road use only. Some shops then actually have to witness your car being physically towed (not driven) off their property!

Sadly they are bad about adding the brackets to cars all over the US...even in those smart states that don't requires a front tag...And they make it worse by using the cheap car max plastic version...

Got my '05 from Carmax. Was in CA and they shipped to NV no charge. There was a plate bracket on the front but it was stuck on with double sided tape. Came off no problem with GooGone. No holes.

When I bought my 06 new the dealer asked if I wanted the plate holder installed, I said no but had to sign a waiver that released the dealer from any liability. Dealers know they are responsible under CA law to comply with DMV rules or have you take that responsibility on yourself.
