Thinking about a vette - need thoughts
Thinking about this car
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...#ht_950wt_1165
What are your thoughts ?
KBB Good condition price is $17.5
Edmunds Pvt party is $16.8
Anything stick out as obvious ?
Want to TD this car this week
BTW, is the fall/winter a good time to get a "deal" on a used vette?

I tend to stay away from cars with that many miles though many here will tell you a well maintained Vette will go far beyond 100k miles. The car in question has a very clean interior and exterior with that many miles so the car was likely well taken care of - i'm not sure if I missed it but does the seller have all the maintenance records?
I would probably investigate the front bumper replacement just for a peace of mind. I paid $100 to find a minor leaking differential in the 08 i just purchased in June this year; the leak would have otherwise been unnoticed.
05 also has the weakest rear differential from what I've read here, when I was looking at Vettes seriously many told me to hold out for 06+, but I would have been perfectly fine with a well priced 05.
fall/winter is definitely the best time to buy a car like the Vette - summer time is typically the worst, you can save thousands in fall/winter. I just purchased my Vette in June but over the past few years I've noticed this pattern each year in my research.
Edit: just saw the post above me...well i don't feel particular smart right now

I am looking for a weekend car to join my DD and Family Car. Cant justify dropping 30k+ on this endeavor . Want something that I can keep for 7-8 years that I wont outgrow in 6 months (eg, miata)

Fall and winter are the best time to buy a Corvette.
Based on the pictures, the car looks great. But there is nothing like a close inspection.
Check the car fax and have it looked at from a mechanic if you are really interested. The from bumper replaced because of road rash seems odd to me. Why not re-paint it unless there is more damage than he cares to admit.
I would not be afraid of a 2005, just get it checked out. If the rear diff was a problem, I would think you would see signs of it. If there is a problem, it can be fixed but you want to take that into consideration when buying.
What is the KBB for Excellent? Use the pricing guides it also consider the condition.
