When to change oil?
I've had my Vette for a year now (07 AO coupe MN6 Z51 package). She has 15K miles on her (I put on 4K). The DIC panel says there is 9% oil life. Will the panel tell me to change the oil or should I change it now since there's only 9% left? Thanks to all of the anticipated responses.

Seriously, putting on 4k miles per year...change it every year...period.

I never end up the way I use car putting more than 6,000 miles a year so I end up changing it once a year and the lowest reading my OLM was maybe 59%

Sound's like you don't really know when it was done the last time. 9% surely isn't correct either way, at 4000 or 15000. Change it now, reset the life indicator and write down the date and miles. Once a year after that. I usually do mine in the spring, just before the summer driving season.

Let's see, you drove 4,000 miles in a year and it reads 9% left. The previous owner drove 11,000 miles in 5 years. Since it is fairly easy to get 10,000 miles out of 100% usage... clicky, clicky, clicky. My calculator say the previous owner probably change it once and you didn't change it when you bought the car last year.
CHANGE IT NOW!!! Then, with the amount you drive, change it again next September when it reads 70% left because it has been a year.

Who knows what the previous owner did? Change it once a year or when the indicator gets to near zero whichever comes first.

I change it once a year because it's not my daily driver and don't put much mileage on it. I think of it as an oil change is a WHOLE lot cheaper then an engine repair would be due to poor oil. JMHO

It's possible the oil and filter has never been changed. Do it now! Thereafter change oil per your comfort level on the remaining oil life indicator but at least annually. I believe fresh, clean oil is preferable to old, dirty oil....I'd change the oil and filter way before the indicator runs-down to zero. Your car....your call.

At least once per year. If you have any spare time you might want to read the owners manual as that does a nice job of explaining oil changes, the DIC monitor, etc.

I bought my 05 last October. It had been serviced at the dealer back then. I have put about 2,000 miles on it since. Now it has 78% left on it, but I will be changing it pretty soon because it will be in the garage all winter. You need to change yours for sure......Good luck.

Amen to that, brother. I'm thinking the OP my be expecting the horn to start honking and the DIC to display exploding fireworks with a flashing "CHANGE OIL NOW" and some dancing jelly beans......just sayin.
