Road Trip! Around Lake Michigan
Last week we took a 6 day road trip around Lake Michigan with another couple. They had a Corvette and were members of our club, but leg problems forced them to sell the 'vette and get something with easier entry/exit- the Mustang.
Well, at least they picked the right color!
Good folks to travel with, as we have done before.
We were especially impressed with the area from Sleeping Bear Dunes up through the Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas; pleasant roads, nice scenery, surprisingly good wineries. We should have scheduled another day around there.
The Mackinaw bridge was kind of a yawn, but the UP was nice in a quiet and semi-deserted sort of way.
Our 2009 rolled over 50k miles on the trip.
For people who think the Garmin is perfect, see what happened when we let them lead!
We went too early for the leaves to be turning, that should be spectacular!

Sounds great! I was born and raised in Michigan. I used to go to the Leelanau summer camp back when it was on the shore of Lake Michigan around the bay from the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. That whole area is gorgeous....Glen Arbor, Glen Lake(s), etc. I'm not sure if the Leelanau School is still there but I think the land simply became to valuable to keep the summer camp there on the lake shore. Good on you....that must have been a wonderful trip!

My old Garmin once led me on a dead end street, but, one time I ignored her instructions to turn left, and I ended up on a dead end highway(where they built Truman lake rignt where the highway used to be). The factory NAV also told me to turn left, like the Garmin did.
Earlier that same morning, I approached an intersection and the Garmin told me to turn right, the factory NAV told me to turn left, so I split the difference and continued on straight. Got to where I was going no problem.
I think I'll crank the C6 up and see if it's NAV takes me on the same dead end street as the Old garmin did, and also see what the new Garmin does with the latest FREE map update.

Thanks for the pics and trip report. I have a friend that has a mustang and we drive together as amazing as that might seem.
If your a golfer you should hit the corse called sleeping bear dunes. Its a beauty.
