I think you both need to find a local Auto-X event and run the cars. See which one performs better over all, not just in a straight line. Please post video and result.
Well he was using some four letter about how my car isn't **** and his will do this that and the other... And I don't even know the guy.

I believe the fastest bonestock time for a 5.0 is 12.2XX so it should be a defi ite drivers race with an ls2 C6.

Side note:I watched motorweak last nite and they tested the 2013 5.0. It ran a 13.5@108mph and that's with the 8hp bump from the 2012 to 2013 5.0(420hp). I had to laugh. I do really like the 2013 5.0. It has hid's finally, very nice recaro seats from the boss 302 and upgraded interior/exterior.

Wife has a Mustang GT. We've never raced them and never will since she's not into speed. Since I have A6 and the 'Stang is manual, I suspect I'd take it on a 1/4 mile, but it would be close. If I installed the track tune I have for the 'Stang it might turn out different.

Talk smack all you want about other brands, but be smart enough to know when you can't back up your talk with action. But please, PLEASE if you race legally and have video, post it up to show us "Mustang boys" what happens. As many others have already said, you're likely to not like the outcome.
There is not a drag strip for at least three hours, I doubt he will make the trip. Will I get kicked off for posting a video of the street?

The tune was an email tune and uploaded with an SCT tuner, that was on my stick car. The auto car I had was bone stock when I took it to the track.
I dont question your driving skills or how many passes you make. From the sounds of it you know your way down the track

You answered my question though, those tracks are a good .2-.3 seconds faster than most tracks in the North East. So where I race that 12.2X is a 12.5 give or take, which is still very fast and respectable. The one 5.0 I am speaking of is a 3.73 gear, full exhaust, tune, intake and like I said, on skinnys up front and drags in the rear he was 12.1-12.2 almost every time till it got cool and he ripped off a high 11. They are no joke. Only one Mustang 5.0 has broken the 13 second barrier that I have seen in person at this particular track. Other places, I am sure they do it all the time. Same story with the new LS3 Camaros, only one I have witnessed break 13 seconds, the rest are all in the 13.2-13.3 range.

The reason you picked up so much is the mail order tune, they help more than people think.

I have a manual 2005 with longtubes and corsa catback (no cai, untuned). I went against a 2012 Mustang 5.0, full exhaust, short shifter, cai and a tune...we were head to head the 3 times we went at it. Also, I had a passenger in my car and the other guy was alone (idk if that makes a big difference though)...I honestly thought I was gonna smoke him...wrong!!!

My buddy just bought a base 5.0 (lightest) and managed a 12.89 at 113 (auto). Another friend has one (manual) and traps 114ish. That's here in south ms at about 20ft above sea level. Both are fast cars but nothing unbeatable. Comparing every corvette with the 5.0 1/4 mile record is just dumb. Go look at the c6 fast list and you will clearly see that times vary from car to car and driver to driver. The ONLY way to find out is to race. I can't really say who I think would win simply because most people are ****** drivers.

Exactly what I was thinking. If your car runs okay, I say a drag should be easily won, a track run will be a walk in the park. Go for it. I like mustangs, but sorry - they are nothing like a vette.

IBTL

the new 5.0s are a good contest with a tune for a stock Vette, it's a driver's race

take it to the track and be responsible!
