I don't think it will if the paint job is done well. If it were in an accident, that would be another story. Take pictures to prove to the next buyer why it was painted.

Are you going to repaint it the same color? What year is it? should not be an issue just choose the repair shop wisely. Remember price is not the issue here. Let us know how you make out. Are you going to have your insurance company involved?
Disagree, once a car is repainted it always loses value. Nobody knows how well it was sanded, prepped, type of products used etc. Sorry, this is fact.
I agree that a repaint is not ideal but I think part of the stigma attached to a repaint is it's been in an accident. Pictures would help prove that it wasn't.
If you know who did it I would try to get some money for diminished value, if not, get it repaired and move on.

I agree a simple repaint is MUCH better than repainting it because of an accident, but a SMART buyer will use that info to demand a better price.
Regardless how good they do it, it is not original so yes it will hurt value. Not as much as in an accident. GM is not that good at painting their vehicles. A great even paint job will prove that it was painted.
As mentioned above though keep it for a few years at least and the decrease in value drops. Where did it happen? Is there a surveillance camera around? Unfortunately nice cars are a target for idiots.

Strongly disagree with this. We see countless examples of nicely repainted cars selling on every auction on television for solid prices, with no loss of value. Get a quality repaint, and you'll never even notice the damage was there. Be straight with a buyer about it. If I knew it was just a key scratch and not an accident, it would be no big deal to me if the damage was professionally repaired.
What we ALL are giving you are opinions, and with opinions, there isn't an "always" involved.....
