At this point you have no control over it, so don't worry about it.
Get your car fixed and enjoy it. Also, get yourself some secured parking while you're at it, you could have also had a ripped top to go with the scraped paint.

OP sorry this happened. I know I would be furious!!
I know there are some great paint shops out there. That said, I have never seen one. For me a repaint would be a deal breaker. I have never had a car with paint work that held up as well as a factory baked on finish. I think that is the problem, it can not be cured the same as the factory.
I have always sold any car that needed repaint work. Just me and my experiences, not all have suffered the same bad luck. My 06 vert had to have the front facia replaced and repainted due to a collapsed shelf in my garage. I was pleased with the repaint but traded it in the very day I picked it up. Glad I did as I love my AW coupe.
Best of luck to you.

Were you planning on trading it or selling in the near future before the damage? If you weren't then all should turn out well except for the lost time and deductible. I've had varied incidents with many of my cars and know what fun it is.

I have a body guy who actually does better work than a factory job, by far!! So I wouldn't worry about getting a car painted in your circumstances. It was not your fault. And the fact that being painted will depreciate the value is not necessarily true. If a good body shop does it, most car buyers won't even notice it. So, don't tell anybody!!!.......paragraph....... I know if my body guy painted it- 99% of the guys on this board wouldn't be able to tell. If it costs more to have a better guy do the job, then just pay the difference. That's what I do. And don't worry about it. I have wrecked many cars over the years and the miserable feeling will go away in a few months. Sorry it happened. And good luck!!

Paint it enjoy it & don't mention it when you sell it if it doesn't appear on Carfax.

Your car is 4 years old. If you were planning on selling it in the next year or 2 then perhaps it could dimish the value. But if you were keeping it anyways for another 4-5 years I personally do not see any loss of value that far out. Heck, a potential buyer might even think it is a good thing that you have a fresher paint job down the road.

The same reason some ppl don't like any number of things that they don't think that someone else should have. Basically, it's envy at work.

It seems to me that you have to have the damage repaired whether you plan to keep it or sell it, so don't worry about it. Have a good shop repaint it for you and then enjoy it. You might lose value on a repaint, but you WILL lose value if you try to sell/trade it all keyed up.

Peter, Lets understand one thing, its a car.
if it gets damaged in any way then get it fixed. I am pretty **** about my vette, but
not to the point where i will be losing hours off of my life worrying about it.
What happened sucks and I hope nobody was targeting you, but get it repainted and then enjoy the heck out of it.
keep it and enjoy.

As some have mentioned, this is pretty much a non-issue. If the car is keyed to the extent that it needs a repaint, get it. The value it "may" lose from a respray will certainly be less than the value loss of a car that needs a respray.
Just make sure that you have it done at a reputable shop that uses mutli-stage paints in a bake oven. Specifically I would look for a shop that specializes in restorations and has done corvettes in the past.
For collector cars, a respray to a different non-factory color generally results in a loss of value about equal to the cost of the paint job itself. When talking about a respray back to the factory color, there is no evidence of appreciable value lost. At least in the collector car market.
While there's certainly people that are **** enough to not want a resprayed car, the likelihood is that you'd never end up selling the car to that type of person.
In closing, get it fixed, enjoy it.

I don't know about the resale value but if a car is repainted by a shop that knows what they are doing, it can actually look better than new.
The orange peel effect should be gone. You should have a much smoother finish. My car has had everything but the hatch and rear bumper painted and it looks very smooth.
FYI, I don't plan on selling my car. I'll leave that up to my estate administrator.
