Lonely Vette
I dropped off my wife at the airport the other day parked the car in the lot and two slots down was a nice white C6 vert parked. It must of been their at least two days with the rust on the rotors, I took a look a the plate she was from out of state. This was no little airport mined you.
My question is would any one take a chance and leave their baby alone at airport parking lot for a couple of days?

Some of us only have a Corvette, no other cars to use. I park mine anywhere I need to go and don't give it a second thought. That said, if I knew I was going to be away more than a couple days I'd get someone to give me a ride to the airport and pick me up when I got back. Not because it's safer but because it gets so dirty unprotected like that.

Last time i flew i just dropped my Vette in the airport valet. Gave him a few extra bucks to let me park it upfront and have it waxed. When i came back car was still in the same spot and cleaner than ever.

Is this a trick question??? Is the answer "because it's too far to drive 2459 miles"... I wonder if I could make some money by opening up a "Corvette Day Care Center" leave your car with us and we'll pamper him/her while your gone!!

I travel about 200 days a year. Now I have a beater for the airport, but my two C5's were my daily drivers for 11 years and they spent a LOT of time parked at airports. Never any damage, and I always parked in the garage so no jet fuel crud either. I do have "special" spots I've scoped out that are essentially no "door ding" spots, and I can get one of them 95% of the time.

A couple of years ago, I left my C5 at the Frankfurt/Main airport for about one week to take a trip to the US. On my return, an uncle of mine who lives in that area told me a story of thieves who developped the habbit of disassembling luxury cars in the underground parking lots of this particular airport.
Fortunately, the car was not hurt at all.

When I was in the airline biz, our C5 would be parked outside at O'Hare for anything from a day to a couple of weeks.
It would look like cr@p when I returned, but a drive through the touchless car wash made it look good again.
We also drove it through 5 Chicago winters (on the GY winter runflats), still looked great when we traded it at 66k miles.

I used to drop my C4 across the street from the Burbank airport when I was flying to Oakland for the day. They would wash it and have it parked up front and ready to go based on my arrival back in town. I think it was like $25 for their service and it was nice to fly back into town and have a clean car waiting for you. Now I would not do it with my C6 but I would park it inside at the airport parking in OAK or SFO.
