LS3 Normal Oil Temp
I have a 2013 base coupe with 2231 miles on it. 3LT, and 6 sp manual
I had a 2003 vette with the LS1 and a 6 sp manual. My 03 water temp ran 190 to 194 and the oil temp ran 198 to 204 in normal driving.
My 2013 runs water temp of 204 to 208 and oil temp of 218 to 228.
Is this normal operating temps for the LS3?
I do realize that my 03 had 52K on it so it was broken in. I know my 2013 only has 2231 on it and it is still pretty tight. Just wanted to know before I go to the dealer and have them check the temp sending units for correct readings.
Thanks

Seems a little high to me. How often does it seem to run high?

2009 coupe, A6
Oil climbs very slowly to 215-225 while crusing ~70 mph on the Interstate. Takes a while to get there.
Coolant runs ~190 on the thermostat at highway speeds, quickly climbs to ~215 in traffic.
Your temps sound about normal to me.

Base cars with the Z51 suspension have a small oil cooler and the oil runs, uh, a little cooler.
First few years of Z06 and some GS versions have a big oil cooler, their oil runs a lot cooler.
Your car and mine have the same engine, I have no oil cooler and think you are the same.
That could explain why our temps are so close.

I have a dry sump Grand Sport and my oil temp rarely goes above 180deg. Seems that 150-180 is what I normally see. On hot days or hard running it will peek over 200. I think I have seen that twice this summer.
Having said that.... As long as your oil temp doesn't exceed the maximum allowable temperature, you are fine.

My 2011 base coupe ran 230 oil temp all day cruising at 80. I replaced the thermostat with a 160 and now it run 220 to 222 oil temp on the highway. No other tune or fan changes. water temp is now in the 180s give or take a few. This is highway speeds on trips not around town. The base coupe has no oil cooler that I can find.
