Default AC condensation dripping on exhaust

So I've been noticing that every time I stop my Grand Sport and I had the AC running I can hear water dripping on a hot pipe/part of the engine. I don't remember this in my 05 vette. Is it possible that the drain isn't aligned right? Does anyone else have this happen when they stop the car.

It's normal from my experience and with what I've read on here.

don't think it hurts a thing - but its an "L" shaped rubber tube that comes out of the firewall above the exhaust -- guess you could rotate it a bit to re-aim the drip slightly - just don't knock it loose as its hard to get to.

Totally normal and it is very common. Most C6 Corvettes will do it at one time or another (my '05 has done it.)

The best thing you can do is to shut off the air conditioner (press the snowflake button) about 2 miles from your destination and leave the fans running on high until you park. This will allow some time for the condensation to begin to dry. It will not only minimize the dripping on the exhaust but it will also help to prevent mold and mildew growth in the air conditioning system which will lead to problems and unpleasant odors.

Good to know, thanks! I guess the one in my 05 was turned a bit. I'll have to take a look to see if that's something I can twist a bit.

Completely normal, especially with headers no big deal wont hurt anything. The hot exhaust gets wet when you drive in the rain or wash the car.

Actually I would say the best thing to do would be to ignore it. As for the mildew/smell issue I had the dealer turn on the afterblow feature and all of those issues have gone away.

Of course the afterblow is an excellent suggestion. However, with some and the ever present fear of dealerships, turning off the compressor a couple miles from home is a free and easy alternative.

OK, my '08 does this too, I just assumed normal. I understand Talon's suggestion to turn compressor off before arriving at destination, but what is the "afterblow" feature that Bill id referring to?

I get the Hissing sound as well, and a puddle of water.

My drain was blocked and I opened it the other day. To locate it have the car on a lift, it is on the lower end of the transmission tunnel on the right side. It is up in there and hard to get to. I stuck a stiff wire in mine to open it up. I think from it being so close to the exhaust the end melted shut from the heat. I open it and it works fine and does drip on the pipes.

My 2010 has always done the "drip, fizzle, puddle" thing. Normal. I'd follow the suggestion of turning the compressor off two miles before home, but I run too many short errands to fuss with it. The fizzle joyfully reminds me that it's summer!

Yep, mine sounds like a snake hissing every time I park her in the garage, but definitely reduces the puddling underneath.

Afterblow is a feature that your dealer can turn on that will turn on the HVAC fan after the car is shut off to run the fan and allow the condensation to dry.

Same thing on my GS, and I've noticed it on other new Vettes also. Shouldn't be a problem.

Just turn compressor off a few blocks from your destination . Then turn system off before shutting engine off. Problem solved .
