Vette keyed!

Vette keyed!
After reading all the dos and don'ts of parking a Corvette and knowing it could still happen today it did. I was parked in the church parking lot and my pristine 2008 with 4,000 some odd miles was keyed with 2 semi-parallel deep scratches from the rear of the car to the front of the drivers side door.Any suggestions on how to deal with the insurance company regarding having a reduced value by Carfax, etc. showing body work? Or is it a lost cause?

I had my old 350Z repainted for the same thing a while ago. It didn't show up on carfax if that makes you feel any better. Also your ins. company will treat it as vandalism so there is a good chance you won't have any deductible.
Good luck and also make sure you look at the repair work with a fine tooth comb. My first attempt didn't match. Don't accept it without it being as close to perfect as possible.

It's just a clear Comprehensive Claim with your insurance companyand it will show that way I believe on a Carfax as well...but not every claim is reported to Carfax. I had a Comp claim on my Infiniti G35 for over 2k of paint work and that was not on a Carfax.

It will be considered a comp. claim. If you have a deducable on comp, you will have to pay a deductable, if you dont just claim it do a police report and get it fixed.
You will be required to do a police report for the Ins. company.

A police report will definitely show up on the Carfax.

Since when does a police report show up on a carfax? I've never heard of that and I did 30 years as an leo. Law enforcement does not report to carfax.
Are you sure about this, sounds ridiculous to me but I guess you never know.
OP, sorry for your damage. I know what I'd like to do with these types of vandals!

Can not help with the insurance question but I do feel your pain. I had a previous car keyed and my wife's new car was keyed too.
One reason I seldom take the Vette if I must park for any length of time. Seems like a clean car invites this kind of damage from unhappy people.
If I caught someone in the act I am not sure how ballistic I might be, which in the long run only hurts me again.
Fix the car and enjoy and forget about the report.

I don't know what state you're in, but in NY/NJ that is a staight comprehensive claim and shouldn't be chargeable by your insurance company. Call them and ask, you're not obliged to file a claim.
