First time Corvette owner
Greetings, I'm a first time Corvette owner from South FL.
With all the incentives and dealer cash available out there for 2012 models, I finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase a Corvette; it's a Corvette Grand Sport 1LT MT dressed in the beautiful Cyber Gray Metallic.
Picked her up at Stingray Chevrolet, which I'll have to say, was an amazing purchasing experience.
I would love to be a part of the Corvette community.
Anyway, quick question, not sure if this is the proper place to post it, if it isn't, snip away mods. But on my drive back, I noticed some odd noise coming from the car at highway speeds, it seems to be coming from the engine bay at speed excess of 65 MPH, it only occurs when I've got open road ahead of me, when behind a large trailer, the sound isn't audible. It sounds sort of like the exhaust bellowing out of a semi truck going down the freeway, I was wondering if this is normal or if I should get this looked at?

Welcome to the forum. You picked a great car and I love the color.
I can't speak to the issue you are having but I suggest you post in the C6 section of the forum.
Welcome aboard!

Thank you
And if anyone has insight as to what's causing this odd noise, or if this is normal, please feel free to chime in, I don't know too much about Corvettes and any common problems associated with them, if any.

I have not noticed a noise as you describe it, so why not get it checked? After all, the warranty covers any problems and you will have the reasurance of a GM certified mechanic check on the matter.

"In honor of jpee"
neither have I noticed that kind of noise. I don't want to even guess that it's some kind of panel or shroud not quite lined up. the only mechanical thing I can think of is cooling fans coming on, but that doesn't sound correct. do take it to a dealer but check around and make sure they have a good corvette tech there. tell us what it turns out to be; it could something simple, we hope.
and welcome!

I have a 2LT of the same color, and live just north of you, PM me if you're up in the Daytona Beach area.
I've seen a post about the plastic strip below the windshild causing a "buzzing" at higher speeds, maybe it is the sound you are describing.

Hey neighbor!! Welcome to the forum and enjoy the new vette. Can you record the notice you are experiencing? It is hard to figure out what you are referring to from your explanation.

Congrats & welcome. Maybe the air dam is loose.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. I would have your Vette checked out as the noise is not something normal, although I have no idea what it is.

Congratulations and best of luck. Do you have NPP exhaust? Possibly you could be hearing the drone from the exhaust. It's hard to diagnose a noise without hearing it. As everyone has said, let the dealer figure it out and fix it.
My best to you.
