Default Can I exit the car with the engine running in a 05 ?

Is there any way to avoid autolock when driving ?
Or can I unlock the doors after driving without shutting down the engine and put it in reverse ?
Car is a 2005 C6 base.

Thanks !

Not sure if the door is locked or not. If so, roll the window all the way down, slow down to about 20 and put the cruise control on, climb up into a crouching position on the seat and dive out through the window.

I'm not sure if you can disable the 'driving' auto lock feature but you can unlock the doors and exit the car with the engine running....press the unlock button on the door, open the door and get out. The unlock is on the side of the door. I'd make sure not to have the auto locking feature enabled....the one you can set to automatically lock the doors when shutdown and walk away (which I'm not sure even works with the engine running).

Stop the car. Shift to neutral. Pull up the emergency brake. Touch the unlock button on your driver's door. Exit the car.

Yes, you could also do it that way.

This is the way I do it.

Now, if you want it moving while you exit, just jump out however you can.

On our A6 cars (2006, now 2009) I could exit by:

Stop, put selector in Park
Push Unlock button on door
Push Open button on door and get out
Close door

We have automatic locking selected as an option, but the doors do not lock if the engine is running.

Hint- leave the window open first time you try this...

Um, let's not complicate things too much, Paul . . .

Ya'll go ahead and laugh, but I always roll down the window or have the top down when I do this.

I don't trust the damn thing.

I don't understand all the comments about leaving the window open and worries about the auto lock. First, the auto lock won't engage with the engine running until the car is moving. Second, wouldn't your key and fob be in your pocket?

As long as the fob is in your pocket, you can get back in even if the doors do lock.

My thoughts exactly. I have had my 06 set to autolock since new. I've gotten out countless times while running by opening the door normally. It won't open in gear unless you manually unlock it.

Not really sure what you are asking, but I run into the bank all the time without shutting down. If I don't hit the fob button to lock, it remains unlocked.
