Base C6 switch to GS front bumper cover
Had a little mishap with my 2006 base C6 convertible last week and ended up getting some spiderweb cracks in the front bumper cover. I figure this is as good a time as any to switch over to a GS/Z06 front cover since I'll have to pay for paint and installation either way.
Will the GS/Z06 front cover bolt right on? Or does it not fit? If it does, do I need anything else to install it like a new absorber, or bumper bar or whatever?

I believe you need the Grand Sport or Z06 front fenders too.
Meaning, the front nose piece will not align with the C6 standard fenders.
I would do a search for widebody C6 and they should have details about this there.

The GS/Z06 front bumper doesn't quite match up with the narrow body fenders. To do it right you would need a full front end conversion (and that would look funny unless you had done the wide booty as well).
Can you do it without the wider front fenders, yes you can. But because the Z06 front bumper is made to line up with the wider fenders, you get a slight 'crinkle' in the bumper where it meets the fender when you force them to line up.
Here is a photo of one forum members car who did do that and it looks OK, but I have seen others that did not end up looking this good (and you can still see the 'flex' in the right lighting).

I had that bumper before I did my full conversion. It is not that expensive but you need a good competent body shop to get it installed right.
Even it would look better with the wide booty though.
Mine:
Same bumper on a narrow body car.

And its even a yellow one! Looks good to me. It will only be temporary, as by this winter I will have the rest of the widebody kit and the wheels to go with it.

Thanks for the input guys. I already have the OEM bumper though, so buying a different one isn't really an option at this point. It sounds like I should be able to put it on with a little extra work from the body shop.

Let me make sure I understand your dilemma.
So you already have a Z/GS front bumper and you plan on doing a full wide-body mod in a few months.
And you're contemplating putting that bumper on the car because you have some crazing in the stock, narrow body bumper.
IMHO you should not try to do this temporary 'fix'.
In order to get the wider bumper to meet/match up with the narrow fenders, the bumper will have to be heated and tweaked rather severely to even look halfway decent.
And it's debatable that the end result will look good at any distance less than 10 feet away.
Plus, you could very well warp/mutilate the OEM wide bumper so it won't line up with your wide body pieces, in the future.
If the cracks/spider webbing is really bothering you that much, buy a bra (sell it later if need be) and bide your time until you're ready for the full project.
Just my $.02, of course.

We came up with a c6 base nose with a Z06 stlye look that requires NO wider fenders, or bigger rims & tires ...etc
(Above shown with zr1 style splitter)
•Replaces Standard Corvette Front Bumper
•Just transfer your parts over (grill, lights...etc).
•No problems with ground clearance.
•No Fenders, Tires or Wheels Need To Be Purchased!
•Bolts Right up!
•Fit, Finish, Prime & Paint
•MADE IN THE USA!
Perfect for those looking for some thing a little different.

The only fitment issue I had was at the bumper to fender mounting. The holes and tabs did not line up.I did the install myself.I'm not a body shop.Hopefully, C7 Carbon will get the fitment issues corrected.

Just saying, maybe watch out for this.
