Help with convertible top
So I have this wind roar at about 70mph and up. I'm going to take a long ride south in a few weeks and want to make sure it isn't too annoying. So I know all about the gap bit between the waterfall and the trunk. I wasn't sure if that was it so I taped the gap and the noise is still there. I have another theory. Underneath the cover, the part that makes contact with the black strip on the waterfall, there's a rubber seal. If you lift the seal you'll see the aluminum frame of the cover. I noticed that on both curved edges, the corners of the cover, there's a thick black rubber piece. This seems to push the seal out and doesn't allow the rest of the seal to make good contact. I don't know if they're supposed to be there or if they can even be removed. Can someone else check to see if their car has them? I guess I'm just wondering if they weren't removed from the factory, but I don't want to pull them out if they're needed.
Thanks!
Thanks!

My black rubber seal is flat all the way around. It should not be sticking up higher than the waterfall anywhere. If it is, then the top can not lay flat.

My vert (2005) does not have the block of rubber showing past the rubber seal like in your picture. In fact mine does not have the rubber block at all and I suspect you are on the right track.....Could it be a shipping block that was not removed?
Here is a pic of mine.
Here is underneath the seal...no block present
Here is a pic of the same area when the top is sealed to the tonneau cover...shows a flat seal.
Hope this helps!

Close your top and see if there are any gaps along the bottom, try to slide a piece of paper under it. Could be a bad rubber gasket or the pneumatics could be off ...

Wind noises can be tricky to find.
I think best bet is as above....take same paper and test the sealing tension of all the weatherstrips.
(Seems some have these blocks you photo'd).

Yes, it seems to me the frames are different widths. The 05 frame seems to be squarer and thicker vs yours seems to be more rounded and thinner.
In 05 there was a big delay in getting the top to work right and I suspect GM made some changes in later models to improve its performance (although I have not had problems) so it does not surprise me the tops may have some differences.
You can take some chalk and put it on your seal and it will lay an outline where it is setting on the car. This will help you trouble shoot the precise location if you have a break in the seal.

You might also want to check to see if your windows are sealing properly. There is an adjustment to make the wingers press against the surrounding seal. I have had it done at a trim a trim shop, did not attempt myself.

It sounds as though there's very rough turbulance above the top and the whole thing sort of shakes. I don't remember this at all in my 05 vert. I also was wondering if it's possible that the Z06 style spoiler on the back could be the cause since it's steeper?

Mine has the same black blocks (it's under the rubber seal), and appears to be plastic. Seems it is a protective backer for the bolt right there.
