Default Rust on a used 2009 Z06??

I am closing a deal on a 2009 Z06 from back east, and being from California where we don't have to deal with salt roads, should I be concerned with a 2009 Z06 as far as rust is concerned from buying on the East coast?

Thanks

Corvettes are stored in the winter. I can't remember the last time I saw one seeing one being driven in the winlast time.

This.

Aluminum frame, magnesium cradle and the body panels are either carbon fiber or molded composite.

Even if it was driven every day in a deluge and put away wet I wouldn't really be concerned with rust on a late model corvette.

Not all of them... Reset your "last time" counter now.

there is a lot of aluminum and plastic/fiberglass on corvettes. There isn't much at all that rusts on corvettes. I have been daily driving corvettes in Milwaukee,Wi since 96. We get plenty of snow and salt during our winters.
With that said, I HIGHLY doubt ANY Z06 is driven in winter snow and salt.

That said, it is still worth the time to look underneath the car. Aluminum in the structure doesn't 'rust', but it may still oxidize if exposed to the road salt extensively.

I plan on driving my Z all year round

Don't consider it an issue with my 06.

I thought going Corvette was because it's glass fiber, thus rust free!

I wouldn't worry about salt/rust/corrosion.

glass fiber?

(I think the OP meant the undercarriage)

BTW, current body is closer to plastic than f-glass

if the car was driven in the winter months with salt, sand and chemical sauce on the roads, it will do a number on your brakes and wheels. oh yeah, aluminum pits very nicely too! don't forget about chrome rims either if it has any!

My old boss would DD his 2001 every single day of the year.

Dont worry about the rust, there isnt much to rust and most people dont drive them in the winter.

While most of the Z06 is aluminum/plastic, there are some steel components, such as a dozens of exposed bolts, including some that hold the suspension together, hold the brakes together, or secure the aluminum and magnesium cross members to the aluminum frame, etc. The steering tie rods, the sway bars, the spindels, etc are also made of steel. While the steel parts are few, they occupy a very important position in the Corvette.
