What have you done at Spring Mountain when you weren't on the track?
My buddy and I and the wives are trying to schedule Spring Mountain for the end of July and we don't want to spend time in Vegas. We'll stay 4 nights at the track but is there anything else to do there or are we relegated to Vegas for 3 nights? Any suggestions are appreciated--thanks.

Norm, you might ask John, "johnodrake" or Lisa, "Lisaszr1." Both have been to the school multiple times.

John, Lisa & myself are at Spring Mountain now, Pecanman is right you will be tired after a day at the track, they have a pool and spa here. You can always drive over into California its not far at all.

Unfortunately, there is not much in Pahrump. When I was there in March, the instructors recommended NOT going into Vegas at night. They want you rested, focused and on-time. As others have mentioned, you will be tired, and just relaxing is probably what you will want to do after class.

I played Golf many times after racing on the track.

I received the same advice when there last October, & had the same experience.
There a few local restaurants for dinner...

They do have a masseuse that's pretty good so the wives could schedule that one day. It's a short drive to Vegas and the wives could go shopping while you're in class. And they can ride with the instructors if they are so inclined. Otherwise, Walmart, gambling, Vegas. Then there's the pool.
You all realize that Derwin and John are going to run my butt over tomorrow.

I was worn out on the race days, so I just chilled around the track in the condos there. i would go into town for dinner, then come back to the condo.
I then went to Hoover Dam for a bus day trip, then on another day I took a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon.
I spent a day walking the desert mountain trails and took a lot of nature pictures there.
I was also fortunate enough to time my Spring Mountain trip when Barrett's Auto Auction was in Vegas, so I went to the show for a couple days, and rode a lot of cars on thier mini autocross track.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. We'll probably spend 4 days in Vegas, go to the dam and spend the 22-26 at the track. I agree, while at the track we'll be exhausted, especially in the heat. I usually come home from the track and sack out anyhow.
Looking forward to it. Now to get plane reservations.
Thanks again.

I realize this may not be exactly "Corvette" but Carrroll Shelby's manufacturing and museum facility is right out near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. tours M-Sat, 1030am. (Sat., museum only).
