Wouldn't bet on Sept shut down - I'm pretty sure 2013's will be building more than a couple months.

Historically, the plant shuts down for two weeks in July, but this year they are shutting down for the entire month(overproduction of 2012 and poor sales forecast of 2013's???). In Sept, they will start changing over the plant for the C7's but will still be producing 2013 C6's at first, eventually stopping 2013 production(early) to complete the change over to C7's.

With respect to September, the plant is not shutting down. On September 14th the plant will close to the public but will be very much open and building cars to close out the 2013 model year. There will simply be no tours (public tours, buyers tours or photo albums) from that point until the plant completes the changeover and the C7 goes in to production. The date for the final buildout of the C6 is not finalized, nor is the date that the plant will reopen to tours in production of the C7.
The NCM will be delivering any cars it has in July and will the resume deliveries once the plant starts back up in August. The museum will also be delivering cars after the September 14th cutoff for those that want it. Owners will simply not be able to take a tour of the plant.

I am now curious. I started this thread and said I could not find where this plant closing was discussed before. Some of you have said yes it was already discussed. I still cant find it . For those of you that found this previously, just what was the wording you used when searching for it. Thanks...

I believe the EPA requires the car to be built on Jan 1st of whatever model year it is. Thus a "2013" model car could not stop production in September 2012. The earliest they could stop production would be Jan 2, 2013.
