Default 90-Year-Old Man Wins Corvette in Lottery

Read about it here: 90-year-old man Wins Corvette in Lottery

Not only did he win a Corvette, but also a Lincoln MKX and an MKZ hybrid. Apparently the Canadian Cancer Society has a really awesome lottery.

But retired minister Allen Cawfield and his wife Sandra say they'll pass on the cars, taking the money instead.

He'll get the check and $166,240 next Monday.

Despite turning down the cars, the man will still get the chance to take a spin in the Corvette, thanks to the generosity of the lottery manager.

One of the local Chevy dealerships ran a series of satisfied customer testimonials. One was a 90 plus guy with his new vette.

Woohoo, we own 2 of the cars from that list and have owned all 3 of those models.

I wish I had luck like that.

The best part about winning a lottery in Canada? It is not taxed
So he will receive $166,240.00 tax free.

Good on him! He had the option to take cash (instead of the cars) and the winnings are tax free. The good Lord works in mysterious ways.

I remember winning a free VHS movie at a new rental store that opened back in the mid 80s. That's all I ever won.....Congrats to him.

So a 90 year-old guy won a vette? Time to go cruising for some 20 something girls I 'd say.

P.S. Even 70 year-olds would probably be a bonus for him.

I am the daughter-in-law of Allen Cawfield who had all those remarkable lottery wins. I've just been researching information for the family tree and came across this forum where you've all so graciously congratulated Al on his wins and just had to sign in to say thank you.
When we kept getting phone calls from him telling us that first he'd won the Corvette, then the first Lincoln, then a second Lincoln .....and then $10,000.00 we honestly thought someone was playing a practical joke on him. His wife did too actually until she verified it all with the Lottery Corp. I don't think out jaws stopped hanging for weeks! And quite honestly we did have to laugh trying to imagine him roaring about in a Corvette.....he was using a walker just to get to the local Chinese buffet. Bless his heart though, he'd always longed for a Corvette and winning one just before he died was pretty special. He did die last October and I wish I'd been able to show him your congratulations. He certainly had a fine vehicular send off!

This is who he was: Allen Cawfield

Again, thank you.

Older does not mean not a car guy. Good for him and great offer from the lottery manager. My 97 year old neighbor is an old hot rod builder from the days starting back in the late 40's...he asked if he could drive us to his church last Sunday as he had always wanted to drive a vette. I said yes and we had more fun than a barrel of monkeys last weekend...even if we never hit over 30 and only drove two blocks!

Good thing he lived in Canada... if he lived in the "Good ol USA" O'Bama would have taken 80% of the winnings.... !
