"In honor of jpee"
from some specialty car mfrs. of sports or GT cars, that's a big number. for Corvettes, all I can say is, not so good. I hope it gets better. thanks for the information tho.

AORoads,
Ditto. That's a 14% drop from last year. Not good at all.

i agree with a new generation is needed.....but sales are tanking because the economy has been tanking since 2008 and still is....i do not see an end in site. i bet the 2014 model will have production numbers in the 10-12k range as well if not lower. we will see

I've really come to appreciate the C6 as a great car. The Corvette team has it's work cut out to top it with the C7. I hope things weren't compromised because of GM's financial difficulties. I worry that the new generation might share some cues from the Camaro.

2013 will be fewer still, owing to the economy and the early termination to prep for the C7.

Those numbers are kinda to be expected....for all the reasons the other members have mentioned.
I still don't see the flagship Corvette as going anywhere soon...if the C7 is a bomb, that will open up a whole new can of worms....but sagging C6 end of cycle numbers are not surprising...

Much shorter sales cycle this yr and next. Building 8 per hr 10hr workday 4 days of production per week. The c7 is a scheduled for 18 per hr so clearly factory is ramping up for something big. Stay tuned.

They are ramping up for something big??? As I understand it the first cars to be produced for several months will be the Coupe and Convertible, not even the much more popular Grand Sports...

Don't know much about the excitement of waiting for a C7, but with the prices getting closer to $50k for the entry level GM better hope for a reel good turn around in the economy or the first year numbers may be just a dissappointing.
Or if it is just current vette owners that buy new one, then wouldn't that mean an influx of used vettes and maybe start losing value because of more supply and less demand.

As far as economy There has been a huge hiring boom in gulf oil supply business, the company I work for alone has hired nearly 700 new employees in '12 and are building 16+ new 300' supply boats to meet demands which all have to be crewed.
If it weren't for the oil companies having to drill in Brazil and Mexico,
and horrible regulation and politics involved with production those numbers would increase dramatically.
Of course this is just one example of how regulation is hurting the US and only one industry, but it's a huge part of the economy Nationally not just for the Gulf.
