Default Cashmere Convertible top stains.

I have these stains that RaggTopp cleaner had no effect. I've seen a few other Corvettes with Cashmere tops and the identical stains. A BMW also. Even a post on this site showing a top replacement and it was for these very stains. Its fold stains. Not dirt. Any thoughts to why, what and any advise on removing them? I also tried Resolve. Car is a 2008 with 27,000 miles. These stains have been like this a long time. Just now getting to bug me a lot. LOL.

This is going to get moved, but get yourself ZEP Industrial Purple Degreaser at Home Depot. Cut it for light cleaning and add slightly more concentrate to he mix until the spots are gone. Use a soft brush. Also make sure the spots are grease versus the material being worn and discolored.

Moved where and why? I have no clue to verify what the spots are. I found others on this site with same spots in same area. They were posts on top replacement for same reason but didn't state to the cause. Thats why I posted the pictures.

Someone a week or so ago mentioned lighter fluid.

I have a cashmere top as well and have stains in the exact same spot on the driver side. Wonder if it's hitting something when it's going up, down or being stored.

I used Resolve with some successs. The stains are quite a bit better but not gone.

The key to using Resolve is to let it soak, scrub it, let it soak some more and scrub it again. Do this for about 15 minutes then wash the top. I was a little worried about having a "bleached spot" from using the Resolve so vigorously but it came out OK.

I think I may have wet the top before using it. Can't remember exactly.

My 08 has the same stains. Got them out with Raggtop and a nylon brush a few years ago during the fall cleaning with repeated soaking and scrubbing. They came back in the same places soon as I started lowering the top again.

Sounds like I'm looking at a top replacement to BLACK. I like the Cashmere a lot but I'm not going to live with these stains if they return even IF I get it cleaned. I'm getting in touch with Chevrolet customer service asking for assistance for top replacment. I'm in touch with Haartz, the manufacture of the top and RaggTopp cleaners.

Sorry, not much hope. I was unable to find any product that was effective in removing stains and crease marks from the tan top. I became so frustrated w/ the stains and crease marks with my 2 verts, I gave up and went with the coupe on my 3rd vette which is 75% vert with the top off....

They are mostly CREASE Marks ! impossible to remove. I'll live with it for the Top down experience.

Don't care what they are. They look like hell on such a exspensive car. I know now its a known issue and its not caused by neglect. Anyone from Chevrolet customer service still following this forum?

I bought my Vert two months ago with a cashmere top and it had stains in the same spots, but not as dark as yours. I have been searching this forum on how to remove them and was getting ready to buy ragtop cleaner. Then I thought I would just use plain dish soap and warm water. I applied it with a towel and scrubbed the suds into the stained areas. The stains came out. I don't know if this is a permanent fix, but it seem to work for now.

I have a CRM vert arriving soon. I wonder if putting a thin towel, cut up t-shirt, or something along the creases when putting the top down would prevent the marks.

Try some percholorethylene (dry cleaning solution) on a soft white cloth and rub on the spot. I've had success in the past with this method when used for stain removal on furniture. Won't hurt to try if all else fails, but, use caution!

You need to keep the top down all the time or buy a Lexus IS350c.

I have them on my 07 also. I go to a good car wash and power wash the top and let it dry in the sun on a warm/hot day. It gets rid of them for a while.
