Would you trade up even though the end is near?

Currently, I have a 12 gs centennial edition. I now have an opportunity to get a 12 z06 with the z07 package. Although I hate the color (yellow) the car is ideal for me since I just started track events.
So, my question is, would you trade up now even though the c7 is around the corner or just wait and see what the c7 offers?
If history repeats it self then the base c7 would outperform the c6 zo6.
I'm a little torn on what to do as I know the value of a c6 (especially yellow) would drop considerably once the c7 is released

I wouldn't buy anything that I hate..... I would wind up, well, hating it!

I would wait to see what the C7 offers. Will be plenty of opportunites to buy a C6Z in the color you want if the C7 does not do it for you.

Another thought - No 427 in 2014.

I wouldn't buy it just because of track events. If you want a Z06 because you want a Z06 and plan on keeping it, do it.
Most people can't drive a GS or Z06 to it's limits anyways without a lot of training.

How many driving school sessions have you taken...what level?
PS: when it comes to a C6 Z06, one color reigns supreme...Velocity Yellow. NO other color looks as good on a Z06.

I do agree with you in regards to taking the cars to the limits as it will be a good amount of seat time before I am able to if even at all. However, I had one track event so far and my pads are used up and my rotors will be as well after one more event. And from what I gather, the carbon brakes do not need to be replaced for a very long time. (unless I'm mistaken)

Also, I think that the base C7 will most likely outperform the current Z. Ford and Chrylser are charging way past 500 HP. And while a current Z will still beat these cars, GM can't let them win the HP wars over the corvette.

Last year I traded the CR for my current black C6 coupe and, especially since I live on a farm, boy do I miss the dirt-hiding talents of yellow. My next Vette will be VY for sure and I'm doing all I can to swing a 427 while there's still time. I'm a bit concerned that the C7 will be a looks letdown like IMO the C4 was.

I would wait until you really know what the c7 will be. I think in the looks department it will be disappointing. As far as power and performance, equal to the Z06 maybe on paper , not in real life.. Also the dealers will have even better discounts on the 2012 after july 1. Back when the c6 came out I wasn't wowed by the the now "base car" looks and or performance. I opted to by a leftover commemorative Z06. My c5 and other's Zo6 did outperform the base c6 all day long. Not until 06 z's came out did I even think of trading up. Was going to get a 2007 until GM jumped the price by 5k. I currently have a 2011 GS Vert and the 427 convertible is very temping but it will take a big hit as soon as the C7 comes out also. Im waiting to see what happens too, good luck to you.

I would keep the GS just for the fact that its a Centenial Edition and the Z is Yellow. Id see what the C7 has to offer, unless of course moneys no object.

Don't get a color you don't like.
But I'm trading a Centennial Z06 on a 60th 427 Vert. Not neccessarily a trade up, but as much as I love my Z06, I'm struck by the looks of the 60th 427 Vert. Best looking Vette I've seen, plus the 427? Can't wait.
