Are you apprehensive about C7?
Solely acting on the gut feeling, and out of fear, I wanted to grab on to one of the last C6's before GM moved to appease younger European sports car buyer market and the stricter EPA regulations to make the car more...ahem...civilized. Last year I took delivery of loaded 3LT GS (with M6) all except leather interior.
The C6 could be the last of its breed, pure hot rod and rock & roll with an engine that still has potential for another DIY 200-400 HP fairly easily, and the drive train to support that without huge modifications. With C7, smaller tires, engine (albeit probably around the same horsepower but with less untapped potential) probably more civilized and easier to drive all around but if that is what I had wanted, I had not bought a vette. I also hear from very good sources (Mechanics inside MB and BMW) that they are having bitch of a time with direct injection, a many valve jobs on fairly new cars.
The C5 did nothing for me, so I did not own one. Still miss my 89 C4 although technologically no comparison to C6. It must have been those gills (C4 and GS had them)
Yet I still sit and ponder, if I did the right thing, or should I have waited until the C7 came out. Then one needs to give them few years to get their act on a new car, that is another 4 years without a vette (my 3rd vette by the way) and I am not getting any younger.
I wanted to find out how late model owners feel about this?. I can almost see the answers, I guess, love the one you are with and stop looking around is a good motto, but good thing with cars, when you do, they never bitch about it...

I think the C7 will be a pleasant surprise, and I do not think it will disappoint us. As for waiting a few years to get their act together, well I may be a bit foolish but I do not think this way. Now all we have to do is wait and see.
If it disappoints in any way there is always time to grab a C6 there will be plenty of them around.

im very excited to see what the new one will be. I love my 05 but I will be looking for a new ride in the next year or two. I am not married to the corvette so they better bring their A game (im sure they will) or I may be changing brands.

I don't know if Benz and BMW are having problems with direct injection, but we put 45K on an '08 CTS sedan with DI, and our '11 CTS coupe has the DI engine going on 8K miles. Neither one has had so much as a hiccup.

No apprehension here. I love the C6, but I'm still looking forward to the C7, with a "wait and see" stance. If I really like it, I'll trade up -- maybe waiting until the 2015 MY to let them work through first-year issues. If not, I'll enjoy what I have. Above all, the idea is to make it fun!

The first C7s will have growing pains just as the first C6s did, and there will be improvements along the way.
If anyone should be "apprehensive", it's the purchasers of the first C7s.

I am right there with you. Hope C7 is a true upgrade from C6 but like you I hear things that make me shake my head. Love the LS3 and if it ain't broke don't fix it. Not big on the Camaro rear end for Corvette if that is what is going on. Should be opportunity to buy a 13 C6 after the C7 comes out, May just hold on to my 2011. We will see soon enough.

I bought my '12 GS 4LT CE a couple of months ago. Not being the kind who enjoys multiple visits to a dealer during the first couple of years of a new model, that alone sealed the deal for me . But there was a lot more than made my decision to buy a C6 at the end of its life a no-brainer. Just like you, I'm done trading my cars with 10 to 15K miles max at the end of warranty. I can afford that more than ever now, but I'm also more frugal than ever, since being self-employed, I won't enjoy the luxury of a pension, 401K, or any other such income. Therefore, I'm going to keep my cars longer, especially expensive ones.
That brings me to the C6. Can't get any simpler (relatively speaking, of course) than that, especially in the engine compartment, with no electronic crap of any kind inside the engine (variable-valve timing, cylinder deactivation, etc), no start/stop, no direct-injection with its inherent drawbacks (50 vs 1,200 psi makes it less reliable in the long term, frequent valve carbon deposit removal, etc). The manual transmission is pretty much perfected, and doubt it can get any better than mine. Differential the same, without any electronic crap, like many competitors. Its simple interior layout, although not at the fit and finish level of some German competitors, makes it super simple to change any component, from the HVAC module to the stereo. And at least on my 4LT trim with Alcantara inserts, I'm pleased with the interior.
As far as C7 rumors, it was already confirmed being another evolution of the C5, there wasn't any compelling reason to wait at all. Even if the C7 has an interior similar to the CTS-V, I still prefer the Vette. And strangely enough, I find the cheapo Vette seats more comfortable than the Recaros on the V, even though I'm a skinny dude. The styling is anybody's guess, but IMHO, it's probably going to go backwards, with 'Pontiacesque' touches, like more cladding, hood louvers, Camaro tails, etc. Hope I'm wrong, but so far, chances is at least some of the guesses might be right.
Finally, if the C7 is a really compelling car, I might consider it in about 5 years, once it's fully proven, and bugs are worked out. Oh, and provided it's still a good value, meaning deep discounts at that time. No way I'd have bought my GS for $73K+. But $62K was at the high end of its value IMO. Hope everybody had a great weekend .
