In the past I have used the vinegar/water solurion and it worked. I used a 50/50 blend. The last time it didnt work. I had to take the Corvette to a Body Shop where they machined it off.

We had this exact problem yesterday with our daily driver. My hubby made up a solution of vinegar and water, 25% vinegar, 75% water, put it in a windex bottle, sprayed it on the car, waited a few minutes and then wiped off with a clean rag. Then we washed the car as usual and the water spots came off. Good luck to you

Try Barkeeper's friend used with liberal amounts of water on the glass........worked good on an '81 corvette windshield that I cleaned up years ago. Agree that vinegar works much better if you allow it to soak, for a while. Good luck!

This has worked well for me, especially on black cars. I never wash a hot car or wash a car in the sun.

I have a 100% solution to get water spots off glass. Buy a product called "WINK" Your local hardware store has it. $5.00 Cut a kitchen sponge into quarters and pour the "Wink" onto the sponge. Make sure you do NOT spill any on the paint. In a 1 foot square you apply the wink in a circular motion till you feel the sponge grab the glass....about 20 seconds. You can do a larger area as long as you do not let it dry on the glass. At that point you rinse with water and proceed to the next area. Your glass will SPARKLE like you won't believe. I normally "wax' my windows afterwards.

This is the method I have used on my boats for decades....

Annnnnnnd we have a winner!! Simply....the water is too hard and it is drying before you wipe it off. If I wash my cars at the nearby car wash and dry it when I get home, I have to make sure I get a towel on it and dry it before it dries, or I'll have water spots. So, all you have to do is dry as much as you can with a towel/chamois and if the rest of the car dries and leaves water spots before you dry the entire car, just rewet that area that has dried with the hose- then go ahead and dry it off, too. The water spots will come right off. Good luck!!

You can also remove the water spots by taking a (used) bath towel and wetting part of it. That way you can remove the water spots with the wet part and dry it with the dry part. That's what I do.......

Boston, if all else fails regarding the glass, try a visit to a local auto glass place. They can polish away those spots for ya.

XLR or clay bar will do it. Use Dawn dish detergent as lube for the clay ...

RainX works great on the glass and I think it is alcohol.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'll give them a try one at a time until something works.

I'll let you know what works.

Thanks again

I had water spot problems when I did my car and now I always keep the entire car misted somewhat until I have the entire car clean. Hose it down so the water sheets off the sides and then I pull it into the garage partially or fully and use a cleaned water blade to remove the excess and towel any leftover spots. Works great and the garage floor gets nice and clean too. You can take as long as you want to dry it off.

quite frankly, i dont have a problem with water spots, they dont happen with Zaino, and rarely, if they do, the come right off with detail spray in a second.

There are glass polishes like DP Glass Restorer that will help remove waterspots from glass. It can be used by hand or machine as needed and designed for glass unlike some other more abrasive polishes. If the spots have been on the glass way too long and etched the surface, then you might need to move to a glass polish with cerium oxide in it. Handle with care.

If you are truly looking for away to stop water spotting at the source while washing, then consider a system like CrSpotless which pulls the minerals and contaminents out of water during the rinse stage. Its not cheap, but it is very effective.

I once used my 45 caliber Colt peacemaker to remove individual spots. It was very effective, but I used a lot of ammunition before I was finished. Now I just place the car between two claymore's and the job goes a lot faster. I have noticed a ringing in my ears lately, though.

Try and locate a 3D dealer in your area and buy a product called "Eraser"
It removes water spots from paint and windows.
We use it in my detail shop all the time. For really tough stains we use a dead foam pad and wash the car with it and Eraser. It has never failed us yet.
For your windows you can 0000 steel wool.
