First time trying Zaino (plus, how I almost screwed up my paint)
Well it was pretty easy going on. I'm still on the fence about it. It wasn't a huge pain like some people said it was going to be but it wasn't the greatest thing ever either. I think it was a little easier to apply than paste wax simply because I used a microfiber towel instead of a small pad. Anyways here's the before and after...
Before (taken a few weeks before Zaino since it rained a ton down here)
And after
So all in all it's not bad. I did one coat over the entire car, two on the front bumper and three on the hood. Waited at least 15 minutes between coats.
As for almost ruining my paint I was going to try to paint the 'Corvette' part on my car a cyber grey color. Well I had an old guitar that was gloss black and I figured I would see how well the CG stood out. Thankfully I also tried the mineral spirits on the paint to see if I could wipe the excess off. I literally sprayed on 3 light coats within about 3 minutes and none of it would wipe off. I soaked the paper towel in the end and still couldn't get any to come off. The paint looked excellent and very smooth but it's not going anywhere near my bumper. I would have to mask off the letters perfectly or hand paint them... not happening.
Also completely failed at putting my jockey shifter on my bike. I had everything set up but couldn't find a allen wrench for my fill plug on the transmission (its a huge allen key needed). Oh well there's always next weekend.

Your thread title is very deceiving. It implies that Zaino may have had some contribution to you almost screwing up your paint.

without ZFX you should wait 24 hours. Also only one coat at a time. It also depends on the temperature outside. With the ZFX the curing time is greatly excelerated. Either way it will look better tomorrow than right after application. Also the terrycloth applicator pad is used for a reason. too much product is lost in the fibers. Try going to the web site and look up the application instructions. They never change . In fact the only thing that has changed is the color of the towels used to remove the product. Use to be only white "made in the USA" Now their still made in the USA but they come in blue. I just went back to Zaino after being away for many years. Im up to my 6th coat.

I agree on the towel it is printed on the instructions but all I had was microfiber towels which still worked on a nice thin layer which they suggest. But on the bottle of Z2 Pro they only mention using ZFX for optimum results and state a drying time of 15 minutes or longer. I waited at least 20 for one coat and probably 30 for another. Their printed paper instructions, online instructions and what was on the bottle all vary in some form or fashion so I used what was on the bottle besides washing the old wax off with dawn.
I went back and read each set of instructions. The bottle itself is the least stringent with the lack of ZFX and 15 minute cure time. The included instructions state an hour drying time and allow for 'high quality' towels instead of the 100% cotton towels. And lastly the website requires the use of ZFX for multiple coats and the towel/applicator requirement as well.
I didn't mean for it to seem deceiving but it's a stated afterthought that I almost screwed up my paint on my own. Now had I said 'it almost screwed up my paint' then yeah that would be deceiving.
I'm going to give the Z2 a few days and see what I think. It looks nice and hopefully will get better once it fully cures. I do however think their instructions where very poor considering most people would pick up the bottle and go off of the instructions printed on it.

I have been a fan of Zaino for years. I have been doing a lot of reading and this year, when it came time to reorder my detailing supplies, I decided to give ReJeX a shot. I'm going through my whole detail routine on my CTS-V. I washed and clayed it today. I will polish it tomorrow and apply a coat of ReJeX every other day for a week. I will report back on my thoughts after trying ReJeX. Will be a tough act to follow but the price is much better. We will see....

Curing time of zaino with zfx depends on ambient temp and humidity...also whether you are in sunlight or shade. you need to check the polished surface and insure its cured by taking your finger and lightly brushing off an area, if it smears, its not cured. just saying. Now ,without zfx, like stated, 24 hours.

Don't be confused between drying time (forms a haze and wipe off) and curing time (multiple coats).
Between work and our weather I might not get out on many weekdays. I will apply a coat and leave it on overnight. The next day I buff it off and repeat (dusting and detail spray between applications). By the time the weekend rolls around I have 2 or 3 coats and didn't have to spend many consecutive hours on the car.
Rejex is a fine product but was initially intended for marine and aircraft use. I don't feel it protects as long as Zaino and their instructions say a second coat is not required. Zaino is a show car polish and multiple applications show the difference.
Keep in mind it's all pretty easy with a silver car but not as rewarding as the darker colors.

Also would like to know how much zaino you used to do your car. Less is more for sure. You only need like 1/2 oz or less. I bet you used too much and that also contributed to a harder removal. But as most have already said 15 minutes is not long enough. I usually do 2-3 coats in one day. 1 in the morning 1 in the afternoon and the last stays on overnight and yes I use the ZFX. Now this was my method on my silver 07 coupe. Still have not used It on my 12 GS I got a couple weeks ago. I'm gonna wait another couple and then do the entire dawn/claying process. I caint wait to see the results on cyber grey.

The first coat really shines. The second coat is to protect the first and get any spots you might have missed. After that I wouldn't expect any change. 1 coat lasts about 6 months and 2 coats can last a year or more. Applying a coat every day for a week can't hurt and could be done in less than an hour a day but I doubt you will see any difference except that the shine and bug/dust rejection might last into the next century.

The first time I used Zaino, I messed up badly by using too much and putting it on like a standard wax...in swirling motions. What a mess that was. I learned after that, to use very little and put it on in straight lines using a normal pad, let it dry, then wipe with a microfiber towel. It works just fine and the results are beautiful.
