Default 2013 Grand Sport Question

Is GM going to offer the LS-7 in a Grand Sport coupe, or just in a Special Edition Convertible? Just curious.

The LS7 is available in both the Z06 and the 427 Convertible, but not the Grand Sport.

...and you can get the 427 'vert without having to buy the 60th Anniv. package, either...

The 427 is not a 427 it's a small block. I thought the LS3 GS was about as fast as a Z06 anyway...and maybe even almost as fast as a ZR1?

So why the need for an LS7 in the GS?

Is this a joke? Z06 (LS7) small block is 7L (427 ci); LS3 GS is 430/436 HP, Z06 is 505 HP; ZR1 is 638 HP. So, no, the LS3 won't keep up with the LS7 or ZR1.

Why? Given that the 2013 is likely the last of the C6 models, the 427 GS 'vert is a marketing "enticement" to buy the C6, much like the '96 C4 Grand Sport/LT4 or the 2004 Commemorative Edition C5.

He's been saying this for years, Steve. He seems to believe that since the LS7 isn't the same engine as the '66 - '69 427, it's not worthy of being called a 427. Never mind that its displacement is 427 cubic inches. Go figure.

A 427 is not a 427! Lies I say lies! I mean who would actually believe a 427 is a 427 when 427 clearly doesn't equal 427. It's a conspiracy!

Those Bowling Green bastards - when they said it was a 427, I believed them. Do I ever feel the fool . . . . . . . . now I'm wondering if they also lied about Bowling Green even being in Kentucky . . . . . it's probably in Oregon, dang nab it

When they found out that the Cincinnati airport was in Kentucky they moved Bowling Green from Ohio to Kentucky too, but they kept V1 of Bowling Green in Ohio. They moved the plant from St Louis to Bowling Green thinking it was in Ohio close to Detroit.

They were really surprised thinking it would be a two day drive. When they found out they could get to Bowling Green Kentucky in one day from St Louis, they decided that they didn't need a Big Block to get there, so they decided that all future Corvettes would be small blocks. Hence the small block 427. Some people are still in denial though.

Thank Gawd somebody has the exact details and absolute clarity on this matter. And providing the same should put an end to all future rumor and speculation as to exactly how, when and why the 427 became the 427 - otherwise known in inner circles as the 427

PS: This news should reach the Pacific Northwest by November 2014

He probably has privileged information, because I hear the 427s are made at foxconn and shipped in from China. They might have skimped on some cubes. So shhhhhh and keep it in the dl.

So, if a 427 cu in is only a big block, then is the 366 cu in only a small block?

I'm waiting for Mr. Smarty Pants to answer this question since he is the self appointed expert on Chevy engine displacements.
