Price on leftover 2011 3ZR
I am looking at a leftover 2011 3ZR ZR1 with chrome wheels in blue - I have forgotten the name of the color but it was only that year.
Sweet car to be sure. The dealer is offering me $13,000 off list, $124,900, so 111,900, plus a decent trade on my 2009 C6, z51, auto C6, 15,500 miles - $35,100. The car is 2 years old and will take a big hit as soon as I buy it. I am sitting back and letting them ponder the whole thing, I'm in no hurry but I think their trade is reasonable and hassle free. While I try and squeeze them so more do you guys have any input on what the ZR1 should go for realistically?
Thanks.

You really need to think about how often are you gonna drive it. With the C7 due for intro in a little over 6 mos I sure as heck would be thinking twice. Btw, one of our forum dealers in Wheeling, IL has two gently pre owned he's wanting to get rid of. Deeply discounted.

I have not traded with a dealer too often, but I think the normal deal is to charge too much for the new car, and give you too much for the used car. So, you need to focus on the difference. I would guess, on an outright sale, your current car is worth closer to $30K. I can't say what the new car is actually worth, but I personally would not give them over $100K. So, looking at realistic prices, I would go in and offer them $70K if they are willing to do the deal today. That shows them you are serious. Will they take it? Depends on the dealer -- ask yourself why they are stuck with this car. So, maybe not, but it is worth a shot.
You could also sell your car to Carmax, and then come in with a straight (ie, no trade deal).
Bottom line, I would not even consider the deal they are offering.

I think you're looking at the one at Hendrick in Durham. If so, I think it is a fair but not great price. I don't recall it being in their inventory a few months ago so they may not be willing to heavily discount. And ZR1s are not usually discounted as much as the more common models. A new 2012 GS could be had for a much larger dollar discount, and there are lightly used 2011 ZR1s out there under 100k, so I'd pressure them for another 5-10k and see what happens. Just an opinion.

Like you said, the minute you drive off the lot you basically have a used 2011 ZR1 that you just paid brand new prices for. I would expect a much more discounted price for such an old car.
I would grab a 2012 Gs or Z06 anyday over that car. Save the extra 40K and just supercharge it. In my opinion...paying over 100,000 for any "Corvette" is insane. The refinement is just not there to warrant such a high price. So they stick a body kit and a blower on a Z06 and think its worth $125K?

I normally do not post to threads like this one and say anything about prices, but Hendrick was my least favorite dealership to work with....and I'm a NASCAR Hendrick fan.
I would start calling the forum dealers and work with them. My guess is if they don't have the ZR1 you want they can probably work some deals with other dealers to get you the one you want and at a price that is better then Hendrick is offering, which in my opinion is pretty high for a left over 2011.
Good luck with your search.

Scott

Ill take my modded added whp and save my $55,000+ for other things. I still believe the ZR1 is a tad overpriced. The car looks and performs amazing, but at that price I would condsider something different.

Just looking at your motto and had the thought: If you rob Peter to pay Paul it makes Peter very angry, and everyone knows you can't do "business" with a sore Peter.

I spent yesterday sending email copies of some of the posts here as well as examples I turned up myself - all documenting that they could do much better if they wanted to. Thanks everyone - great input and forum!

i took the half second slower time and 5 foot greater stopping distance and saved $ 40k
to keep this post on track, the price on that 2011 better be <100k. if you think about it, it's a 2 year old "leftover" now.
